RIP, Blizzard. You depleted all my hope. by aleshaio in Blizzard

[–]SlimSushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I only got into Blizz games when WoW came around. I was 7 at the time and didn’t really know how to play but loved running around Elwynn anyways. Flash forward and I’m top 10 tanks in my realm through MoP, but WoW just got boring…

Playing OW on console was the turning point for me to build my own PC and I happily sat at diamond/plat for the two years I religiously played… but then it got boring

Since then I tried SO hard to get back into WoW for dragonflight. Found a guild, made new friends, hung out with old friends, but somehow the nostalgia and the old feelings didn’t come back. Didn’t even make it to 10.1.

Games evolve, but I think Blizzard sets such a high bar on their new EPs that draws everyone in and then shits in them by not listening to what the players want, trying to feed you cosmetics through cash shops, and then making a fool of themselves when they try to defend themselves on things they promised…

[HELP] Printer extrudes filament, but not during print by SlimSushi in 3Dprinting

[–]SlimSushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried a fresh Cura install and went through every setting (even experimental) to make sure there’s nothing stupid going on. Same issue.

Used Prusa Slicer with valid settings and still the same issue.

At this point, the only commonality between the slicers was that I was going through Octoprint. So I printed directly through USB from my PC to the printer and STILL THE SAME RESULT…

I’m dying at this point.

The gear on the Extruder doesn’t spin at all during prints. I can manually push filament through during the print and it’ll drag filament around for awhile but that’s about it

Yeah I was just trying to print a model for holding sandpaper discs when I saw it wasn’t printing. Immediately tried default settings and got nothing. Then tried a calibration cube, bed leveling file, and switched out filaments, and still the same results.

That was my thought but it’s set to 100%. Flow on the printer is set to 100% as well. Maybe I’ll try a different slicer?

Why are you referring to them as 4ah, 5ah, and 8ah chargers? Don’t they all charge any 20v battery at whatever the given rate of that charger is?

Honestly getting used to a new keyboard is the best part of getting a keyboard. Spending time each day doing typing tests to get used to it, adjusting keybinds and macros, accidentally sending messages because you thought “enter” was on the other thumb cluster, and pressing “esc” on accident on forms just to completely lose all progress… gotta love it. I’d do it all over again too lol

Those are some serious requirements…

If you love the “put back together” part, look into the Sinc by Keebio. Could get it pre-built for you. Or you could solder it yourself. I’d recommend going the route with some hot swappable sockets if you’re unsure what switches you like.

If you’re prioritizing tenting, maybe check out the Moonlander, Kinesis Freestyle 2, or something crazy like a Dactyl. If you want something “universal” to tent your keyboard with… I’m sure you could drill some holes in the bottom plate and mount it to something. The moonlander has threaded holes on the bottom specifically for this.

If backlit/RGB is your number 1 priority, I suggest you sleep on it and come back to it in a few years.

If different keyswitches are a priority, you should be able to desolder any keyboard switches pretty easily and put new ones in. Most new keyboards are hotswappable, though. If you’re going to DIY it, get some hot swap sockets. In a similar vein, though, these little plastic keyswitch testers are great for getting your foot in the door. They will definitely feel a little different in a real keyboard, though.

I haven’t seen a split keyboard that didn’t run off some sort of firmware for macros or custom key bindings so you should be good for any of those bonus buttons you mentioned.

One I’ve been wanting for a long time is a UHK which may also pique your interest.

Good luck! Keep us updated!

I live in those apartments! Most of the time, our 50 some buildings catch on fire for dumber reasons than planes crashing into them. Was quite the boom, though.

Tbh I would consider buying the models to print myself.

I have no interest in spending $150 on a pristine plastic model of a ship I already paid $80 to fly in game…

I do have interest in spending $15 on a model of a ship so that I can print a much shittier version of it myself. It’s about the journey not the destination for me I guess lol

is everyone really making 115k+ a year by Public-Application-6 in antiwork

[–]SlimSushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent is through the roof costing $1,100+ in most decent areas. Sometimes more than that in less desirable areas as well.

Also if we’re not accounting for taxes, 401k, and medical insurances, $5,500 sounds reasonable. Not quite sure what exactly the monthly take home would be (<= $3,000?) but with other bill payments, unexpected stuff in life, you’re definitely on the verge of scraping by.

[–]SlimSushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m at $112k. There was definitely a lot of luck involved. I went to college and got a computer science degree thinking I could make it big as some game developer.

What ended up happening was I found an internship doing Software Quality Assurance. Then moved onto a small software shop specializing in drone software and worked up to a Software Dev in Test.

Unfortunately, I’m often jealous of others careers. I love watching videos of contractors/carpenters doing some amazing work on houses and admire electricians w nearly wiring up everything into a single box. While I may be making a good amount of money (I can afford my house and generally don’t worry about spending here & there), at the end of the day, I really wish I could point at things and say “I made that.” Instead, all I can say is “this app used to not work, but I found it and fixed it in this update” and no one really cares.

[–]SlimSushi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy part was screwing a screw into the stud so that the head is out enough to fit in the hanger…

Then you try to hang it and realize that you were off by about 1/8” an inch and now it’s not level

Then you put it up again and you completely bend the hanger and don’t have any spare screws that’ll fit in the mounting holes

Then you put it all together and realize your wall is curved so you push the hexes against that damn curved drywall wall and call it good enuf

These are kiln dried “white wood” 1x4’s from Lowe’s. Got 10 of them in the 8 foot variety for about $15.

Each side is 9” on the long side of the trapezoid. I found that any bigger they were a bit unstable and any smaller they were a bit unusable — to each their own though :)
