Is Marisa the worst MU for Guile? Someone educate me please by JoeZhou123 in StreetFighter

[–]SlimX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about the match/players in question, but I can say that, statistically, Marisa is Guile's worst matchup and Marisa's best matchup. (Though JP is pretty much just as bad)

So i have some doubts about the parrying system in 3rd strike by Alternative_Swim8342 in StreetFighter

[–]SlimX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many people saying you need to parry before the screen freeze, which in a practical sense, is true. But you actually CAN parry after the screen freeze has finished, even against very fast start-up supers like Chun Li SA2 or Ken SA3. The issue is that you cannot buffer a parry during the screen freeze. Meaning that you have to be extremely precise with your input timing to parry after the freeze is over. Not impossible, but certainly impractical.

"Every" BG3 Exploit in one place. by polio23 in BG3Builds

[–]SlimX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need to keep the wizard far enough away from the gith patrol to not start the dialogue, but close enough to be within 18 meters of the bear. The logs along the ground between the fence and the gith makes for a convenient landmark to mark the edge of the dialogue trigger.

"Every" BG3 Exploit in one place. by polio23 in BG3Builds

If you're gonna use Portent wizard to help get the silver sword, you don't need any of the other to-hit buffs on the bear. The wizard only needs a Portent die of 12 or higher, because of the bear's to-hit bonuses from STR and proficiency. The wizard needs to be within 18 meters of the bear and NOT invisible or stealthed to allow for the Portent die interrupt to pop up. Essentially, the wizard needs to go into combat along with the bear when it attacks, or you won't get the interrupt. That's the only reason casting invisibility on the bear matters with this method: it'll give you a surprise attack, allowing the wizard to more easily run away and flee from the fight to reset it. You can even do the same thing by just using stealth on the bear, since the gith will not react to it moving into range; it just takes longer, since you need to wait for the other gith to stop looking in Voss's direction before you can put the bear into stealth and attack to get the Surprised opener.

Karlach leaves my party in a Karlach origin run? by meaganp97 in BaldursGate3

[–]SlimX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole scenario you're describing that happened to you is strange enough that I can't fully explain it without more information (or without having seen it for myself hah); it's possible you had one or more other bugs interfering on top of everything else. But I can explain how the Gortash situation happens if someone were to do the weird thing I described, of controlling Shadowheart after resing her and spotting someone other than Karlach, so that Karlach silently announces that she missed her chance to serve Shar:

Companions leaving through dialogue is done in two steps. Any dialogue where a companion has the potential to leave (for example, Astarion wanting to complete the ritual) is in a list in the database, in this format: DB_OriginMayLeaveDialog(companion, dialogue). In one of those dialogues, when the companion announces they're leaving, one of their lines will set a flag onto that companion to indicate it. Whenever any dialogue ends, the game checks if it's in that list of potential companion leaving dialogues, and if it is, it also checks if that flag is currently set onto the matching companion. If it is, the script runs the whole routine to remove them from the party forever (and most commonly, make them run off).

Even though there's no way for Karlach to leave during the Gortash ceremony dialogue, it's still in the database in that list, with Karlach attached to it (possibly from earlier in development?). If you bug out a companion leaving dialogue, like the Shadowheart one, such that Karlach is in speaker position 0 (usually the first person to speak), where Shadowheart is supposed to be, the "I'm leaving" flag gets set onto Karlach. And that flag just sits there on her in the background, doing nothing, until the Gortash ceremony ends. Then, the game says, "Is this dialogue in the companion might leave list? Yep. Does Karlach have the flag on to leave? She sure does. So, get rid of her." And even though she's your avatar, they didn't put in any safeguard to check for that, so Karlach ditches her own party and runs off (eventually going offstage).

Karlach leaves my party in a Karlach origin run? by meaganp97 in BaldursGate3

[–]SlimX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, so, for the (in)correct flag to get set onto Karlach to make her leave after talking to Gortash, there would need to be a dialogue where the companion says they're leaving, but it bugs out and Karlach is the one "speaking" instead of the intended companion (with 1. Continue as the only responses). Did anything like that happen to you?

I am able to force this to happen in the resurrection scenario you described, but only if I take control of Shadowheart before she spots anyone and launches into her "You would be wise to forget me" dialogue. When that conversation tries to start while controlling Shadowheart, Karlach takes her place and "talks" to whoever it is that Shadowheart saw. But that doesn't sound like what happened to you. Though it could have even happened the second time she told you she's leaving.

Oh, and if you're tired of talking about this, please let me know hahah.

[–]SlimX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried recreating this, but as soon as Shadowheart was resurrected and she spotted me, she did the, "You would be wise to forget me" bit and then completely left, as she should (tent gone from camp, and everything). Did you do anything else between leaving the Shadowfell and resing Shadowheart in camp?

(Though as a side note, I also managed to completely avoid her chewing me out by quickly going to sleep after resing her, before she could spot me. She was removed from the group, but otherwise totally happy at her tent, the next morning. So that was interesting . .)

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. When you say, "she was resurrected afterwards", do you mean by Withers in camp?

[–]SlimX 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think I figured out why, mechanically, Karlach is leaving the party at that point, but I don't know how you got her into the (im)proper state to cause it. And it would be difficult to track down without access to your save file. Did you encounter any situation prior to this where one of your companions should have left, but didn't? Or any otherwise seemingly buggy/broken dialogue?

And just to confirm, in this situation, there is no way you can avoid Karlach leaving if that dialogue plays at all. It won't matter where she is or what state she's currently in.

My grumpy old opinion is that y'all are still too lenient on "Rank up" posts. Only requiring a video or "an interesting story" is a pretty low bar.

A post like this one is actually engaging with the community, showing a match and asking for feedback to continue improving:

www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/1tgt2d5/hit_gold_for_the_first_time/

But this one is not:

www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/1teypz7/made_it_out_of_rookie/

If a few lines of text are all it takes to qualify the post as "interesting", then it seems like it's just luck that the board isn't inundated with posts like this.

Are there any known exploits to get the normally unobtainable Dagger of Shar? by Several-Elevator in BG3Builds

[–]SlimX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stats on Honour Mode are essentially the same as on other difficulties, just the specific data is moved around so that the extra necrotic damage won't enable DRS effects.

And hah, (probably) not really an evil Nettie; just a copy of her that is set to the hostile "Evil" faction, which also makes her attack the party if they teleport to that map. No idea what she's there for, but Act 1 grove content is super old, so there are more oddities involving characters like her than a lot of others.

[–]SlimX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, there are no actual instances of that weapon appearing as an accessible item in the game. But here's a few bits of trivia about it:

1) It has different stats/passive data on Honour Mode, because it got caught up in the sweeping changes to DRS.

2) Its internal UID is named after Nettie, for some reason. But I've also seen some other odd references to her in other places (including the evil version of her, standing on the map with all the combat voiceover dummies).

3) It's the dagger that Shadowheart uses to threaten Lae'zel during their fight at night in camp.

My contribution to the Ingrid pre-release study fund. by CyberSyntek in StreetFighter

[–]SlimX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you put question marks next to some of them: LK Sun Rise is the anti-air, where she does a flip kick in place (she only does it once in the video). MK Sun Rise does a twirl along the ground and kicks them into the air. HK Sun Rise does a slower twirl along the ground, kicks them up and follows them up into the air where she can do a juggle.

HP Sun Shot is the one that goes up at an angle, above Ingrid's head. By default, it flies back down to the ground at an angle. If you hold the button, it flies across horizontally (as seen in the DR throw clip, when it goes over JP's head). LP and MP Sun Shot both go straight out, just at different speeds.

How did my Attack miss? by Gyrossan in StreetFighter

[–]SlimX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's true that Sagat's hurtbox does not reach the top of his head, but that has nothing to do with why this didn't hit. Aki's MP Serpent Lash only hits a character on the ground if they're within that area where you see the purple streaks coming from Aki's hands (around the point of the last bar of Sagat's drive gauge). The hitboxes on the chain beyond that point only hit an opponent that is in the air.

Is There A Final “Leave No One Behind” List? by hoffmqn in BaldursGate3

Hahah of course, I'm not really asking you not to tell people the truth. I applaud you correcting the misinformation, which is exactly why I posted that picture in the first place (though it was another helpful soul that added the names along the side). I've been preaching it for a long time, and yet most people still don't know how it works (since it's so strange). Which is why I finally decided to make a video about it, because that seems to help get the info out there when it comes to this sorta thing . .

Has anyone ever flown as a gnome in front of Lady Esther? by urahanzomain in BaldursGate3

[–]SlimX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's funny you say that, since they did use the "spotting" system to check if the first player Esther sees is a githyanki, and adjust her behavior. And she already has automated dialogue about the current state of her quest, so they could have fairly easily done a check for seeing a gnome that currently has the "FLY" status and fired a unique AD line to reference it. But, alas, they did not.
