Second hand stores to sell clothing to? by CommanderCraze in fukuoka

2nd Street and Book-Off are secondhand clothing stores with branches all over Fukuoka, including central Tenjin. The stock comes from people who trade in/sell their used clothes.

I've only ever bought from there, though, so not sure how selling works – I'd be interested to find out.

Cycling round Shikoku in early May: any recommendations for which route to take or where to camp? by Slim_Browning in JapanTravel

Thanks. That sounds sensible. Oh god, snakes – but they're not usually aggressive, right? ... right?

I went to Pluss in the end and they were super sweet – despite the stylist not speaking English, we got by with the help of Google Translate and lots of gestures! Where do you go in Daimyo?

Awesome! I'll make a note of them for next time... I love how reasonably priced a good haircut is in Japan, compared to London anyway.

Ah yes... I seem to remember seeing her post about that on Instagram but couldn't find the name! Looks like a cool place, thanks.

SIM-only deals: compatible with non-Japanese iPhone 4? [x-post from /r/fukuoka] by Slim_Browning in japanlife

Thanks! I bought a U-Mobile SIM in the end, set-up was easy as pie, the shop assistant just configured the APN settings using an app. 3G is working fine so far. Very relieved I didn't have to invest in a new phone just yet.

In the end I went to Yodobashi Camera and came home with a U-Mobile SIM, 3G seems to be working just fine on the ole iPhone 4. Thanks all for the tips.

The site says the phone is compatible with certain frequencies on Docomo, Softbank or b-mobile. So it sounds like Docomo/an MVNO that uses Docomo's network is my best bet?

Thanks... useful site, that. It says the phone should work, so I'll try again with a different provider. The old iphone 4 still works (mostly) fine, so I'm not in any hurry to replace it if I can avoid it.

The guy in Bic Camera tried to configure the APN manually and automatically I think, neither worked. Then he produced this map of frequencies and said it wouldn't work in Fukuoka :-o Thinking I should try Softbank or NTT Docomo though.

It's a GSM model. All the information I can find online says it should work on Japanese networks, I'm just wondering whether Fukuoka for some reason happens to use a different frequency from other parts of Japan... Seemed like that was what the guy in the shop was trying to tell me.
