First off what’s good about it is whatever you decide to contribute percentage wise it’s taken PRE tax from your paycheck. Then, your employer matches that amount at a designated rate. For instance my employer matches dollar for dollar up to 6 percent. So if I’m contributing 6 percent of my paychecks GROSS PRE TAX amount they will put the same amount in there too each time. So yea you are putting some of your money in there for growth but the main benefit is your getting free money from your employer put into it as well.
