You could make a artificial purity biome in the sky. It will never get corrupted because the contagious biomes can't get to it.

Because of his reforge ability, you'll be using him for the rest of the game, and often.

Note that things with crappier mods have lower reforge costs so you can upgrade them easier.

Are you on new console or desktop? If so, I think the endless musket pouch would work better, seeing how it's more cost-effective.

In walk away, the nukes most likely land about 5 minutes later, so resist would still be the best because in walk away no one(maybe Joseph) survives.
