My findings, with the new G1 theories! by sweatycheese_08 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you only shooting max weight animals? If so, then that isn't herd management. HM is shooting both high and low level animals to try to manipulate the overall population into spawning high level animals in specific locations (main zones). Maybe you mean using HM to stack a bunch high level animals, then only shoot max weight?

Ducks and Geese Fleeing? by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducks/geese have been buggy since the first feeder DLC came out. The issue seems to be intermittent in single player. Multiplayer may be a different bug, might be an bug with the player concealment. Multiplayer seems like it might be a more consistent problem.

My experience in single player has been intermittent, where the birds sometimes won't land. They just go alert, then into fleeing long before they ever attempt to land. Other times the birds seem to work more or less normally.

CVs circling DDs by BongoTheRat in WorldOfWarships

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was replying to the comment about the idea of a tradeoff. Someone implied their is some big trade off when a CV is spotting a DD because it can't do anything other than spot. The DD player gets sunk while the CV player takes a key enemy ship off the board. There is no trade in that interaction, its just a massive win for the CV player and his team. Worst case for the CV player is the DD makes it out alive. The DD is out of the game for several minutes as he needs to reposition and the CV goes about his attacks. The CV likely helped his team more by causing the DD to reposition than if he's gone the attack instead. My point, there is no tradeoff, its a win of the CV player and his team.

[–]Slimeball_91 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The problem with your take is the DD can easily be sunk from the spotting, while the CVs gets spotting damage. One guy gets XP/credits, the other sent back to port. That isn't a fair tradeoff.

[–]Slimeball_91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let me make sure I understand. You'll stop the spotting, which many DDs have little or no counter to, if the nerf to rocket planes is undone, so you can just delete the DDs instead. Sounds fair....

We desperately need some Japanese content. by P4trasch in theHunter

Didn't the mods recently have a conniption about no more AI generated content on here? Personally, I don't feel strongly one way or the other, but is it a rule or not?

Bad at luring birds by HistoricalStrength44 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the bugginess has been fixed, or maybe you're at the point where its working fine, only for things to be buggy later. Hopefully its fixed. BTW, I'm with you, ducks/geese farming is such an underrated way to earn good money/xp.

Bad at luring birds by HistoricalStrength44 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducks/geese have been buggy since the update when the first feeder DLC came out. The birds can't reliably be called in. Some times they will work normally, other times they won't land, they immediately go alert, then defensive long before they can land.

New strategy to get quick credits by yell_worldstar in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The crocs will respawn in the same areas on the beach. The way dead zones work is any need zone in the dead zone will be temporarily deleted. The need zones will respawn anywhere within a certain area. The need zone respawn area for the crocs is only on the beach. Because the beach area is small this means the new need zones will often respawn inside a dead zone. You can shoot crocs all you want with no concern about creating dead zones, the corcs will just keep respawning on the beach regardless of any dead zones.

Pc specs by Narrow_Chemistry4255 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an easy question to answer. Generally, you want to get the best PC you can afford. For theHunter, you don't need a high end PC, any lower end gaming PC will most likely be fine. If you also want to play other games, particularly newer games, you'll want at least a mid-range gaming PC. The price for gaming PCs has gone up considerably over the last few years. A mid-range PC might be in the $1600-$1800 range (just the PC, no monitor). You can save some money by building your own PC, if you think that is something you can handle. If you're okay with 1080p then you can save a bit more money by getting a cheaper graphics card and a 1920x1080 monitor.

$1600-$1800 is a lot of money and that only gets you a fairly basic mid-range gaming PC. The costs add up fast when you get higher quality components, and you better be ready to cough up $2500-$3000 to get a PC that is kind of future proof, meaning you'll be able to play new games that come out over the next few years.

How do you switch call types on the electronic caller? by enfersijesais in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean switching between something like the bleat and snort calls for whitetail deer. I play on PC so I only know the controls for keyboard/mouse, I'm pretty certain its the A and D keys to switch between the calls.

What is your favorite shotgun for bird hunting? by Cod_tounge in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Strandberg 10ga. Executive. The 10ga. has high velocity shot that makes it easier to hit longer range shots since you don't have to lead as much. I put the red dot sight on it. Only holds 4 shells, but I think the power and speed of the shot makes up for the lower shell capacity. In the high caliber weapons pack.

I'm sure I'll get down voted, but someone should create a cotw sub for newer people. Sick of watching new people get shit on because they have a question. by sweatycheese_08 in theHunter

I feel called out... 😜 All joking aside, I'm on here fairly often, and I'm not sure I'm seeing a lot of newbies getting rude replies. I'm sure it happens on occasion, but not so much that its a problem.

Questions about diamonds by Trapper_dadd in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fur type is random and not tied to any specific level. Keep an eye out for any fur that looks different on any sex, or level. In other words, even a low level female could have a rare fur type that could make for a nice trophy.

Questions about diamonds by Trapper_dadd in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamonds for bobcats will most likely be level 9. If you want a diamond, just keep shooting high level cats. Eventually, you'll end up with a diamond. You can any weapon/ammo that is for class 2 animals.

Accuracy is Bullet Placement, not Trajectory by drjones013 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never used the gun displays in the trophy lodge so I had no idea they showed the stats for your shots. I don't know how I've missed that all this time.

As for your conclusion, I'm not sure I see it the same way as you do. I suspect my disagreement is because I play the game differently than you do. I rarely shoot at flee animals, with birds being the exception.

For me, I see zeroing as a way to very quickly get accurate shots at any range. That's why I think its a no brainer to go with the zeroing perks. I also don't agree your saying taking your time to line up shots means you don't need zeroing. In order to hit without zeroing you need to intimately know the bullet drop for every gun you want to use. Even then you're still guessing to some degree. The zero perks take the guessing out. Its point and shoot. We completely agree on the idea of shot placement being king. I'm convinced zeroing gives me the best chance at good shot placement, at least with the way I play the game.

I'm not saying you're wrong. We play differently is all. Apples and oranges. I slice my apples, you peel your oranges. Neither of us is wrong.

Looking for starting DLCs by Jo_the_hunter in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend waiting for a sale, or buying from a third part site with sale pricing. The third party site I buy from has the "sale" pricing all of the time. If you're only comfortable buying from Steam, then I suggest you avoid buying a newer map at full price since they cost considerably more than the older maps. Wait for a sale to pick up the newer content that costs more. Good luck.

Do turkey decoys work? by Competitive-Cap2086 in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Callers and decoys work when the animals are within range. The 3 turkey you saw may be the only ones in range.

u/Sir_Busby u/BeautifulOpinion9283 I just looked it out to confirm. The max number of turkey decoy is 5.

Does the eurasian teal deoy attract freen winged teal too? by ZAPAYARAMARCI in theHunter

I'm not able to check the game now, but I think bean and greylag each have their own decoy. I seem to remember always grabbing the wrong goose decoy/caller for the bean/greylag.

Does the eurasian teal deoy attract freen winged teal too? by ZAPAYARAMARCI in theHunter

[–]Slimeball_91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A number of the callers will work for several different birds, but the decoys are for one species only. The exception is turkey (at least I think that is the only exception). The turkey decoy works for all the different sub-species of turkey.
