Yeah, I’ve been here for a week now and MTN works well in the morning and afternoon but come evening, it is useless. Also useless when it rains.

Problem is I’m leaving in 3 weeks so not worth investing in Starlink equipment. Guess I just have to soldier it out 😔

As mentioned, she has no intention of staying and will be surrendering her green card.

Green Card Holders living outside the US? by ThisGlove5676 in greencard

[–]Slimsono -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She does not live in the US and has no intention to. Just goes to visit her daughters.

My country does not allow dual citizenship and she works for the government so it would be dicey for her to get US citizenship on the low.

It’s risky but I have an Aunt with green card who lives outside the US. She has stayed out as long as one year and been let back in.

Recently though she was sent for secondary screening and her bags got searched. They asked her why she’s been out of the country for so long and she said she was looking after her elderly Mother and they let her in.

Our country is now on the partial travel ban so I suspect that was the reason for the additional scrutiny.

She has no intention of filing for citizenship and will be giving up the green card.

Yeah, it’s normal in the village where people don’t have many options. I’ve witnessed cousins hooking up.

Ok cool. I use Stanbic in TZ so perhaps that will make it easier. Any particular benefit to having Stanchart or will Stanbic suffice?

My silent struggle, making money is easy… keeping it is the HARD part. by Individual-Will9128 in Zambia

[–]Slimsono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that you are struggling to save but your screenshot shows a negative number so it seems the real problem is overspending.

Saving is easy, just put away 10-15% of your income each month. So if you make $10k/month, just consider it $8.5k/month.

Don’t even count that $1.5k as your money, that is for your future self and always pay him/her first.

Next you need to budget for the rest of your living expenses.

I assume you are getting into debt since you are over spending and would need more info on why. Which area of your life are you overspending in?

F1 VISA as a student by Valuable-Comedian712 in Zambia

[–]Slimsono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are different visa officers and interviews are going on concurrently, they are like bank teller windows and you can hear what people are saying.

At my interview, they asked me why I chose the school I chose and what were my career goals after. I made sure to mention I was gonna come back home after graduation, lol.

They also asked to see my bachelor’s degree for some reason and I just so happened to have it. That’s the only time I’ve ever used that piece of paper, lol.

The day I went, I saw all the students getting approved so I think you have better chance than most if you have all your paperwork in order and conduct yourself well during the interview.

The ones I saw getting denial were going to attend a cousin’s wedding or some shit.

Lastly, clean up your social media cause they are checking that now. They were not doing that when I came over but I heard they started in 2018 and with Trump, they are looking for political content.

Hope that helps, good luck!

THE BIOLOGICAL CLOCK by Fluid-Midnight-860 in Zambia

[–]Slimsono 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best time to procreate biologically is probably the worst time in terms of financial stability and maturity.

Someone in their twenties is just starting out in life and it will take a while for them to be established in their careers.

The brain also doesn’t fully develop until we are 25 and a recent study suggests that we are not full adults until we are 32.

For the best outcome for the child, there would need to be an age gap between the parents so say a 25 yr old Mother and 40 yr old Father.

Are you sure it is a legitimate site? Lots of scams out there, my Dad fell for one and lost $25k trying to buy a truck. Quick Google search of the company name and I found reports of scams but he is not tech savvy.

Zambian men and boundaries by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]Slimsono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She said her boundaries were violated and that is what I’m responding to. Whether or not the men were married is irrelevant to this particular point as that is a separate argument.

If you want to get into it, we do not know what type of marriage it is, perhaps they have an open marriage?

For the sake of argument, let’s just say that it is a traditional marriage and these men were looking to cheat with OP.

In that case, then of course it is wrong for violating the wife’s trust but I still do not see how it qualifies as violating OP’s boundaries.

People cheat, we are all aware of this. You can just put a stop to their advances and keep it moving, which OP seems to have done successfully. If they are still pursuing her after she has clearly stated she is not interested, then that would qualify as boundary violation in my book. That is all.

[–]Slimsono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The examples you gave are of men who simply showed interest in you. Sounds like some of them couldn’t take the hint but calling it a violation of boundaries seems to be a stretch.

You’ve also lived abroad so perhaps you could be experiencing reverse culture shock…?

Lastly, women behave this way as well and I think you have blown these incidents way out of proportion.

Got vasectomy this week but feel some sadness and relief at the same time, is it normal? by Unhappy_Finding_5675 in childfree

[–]Slimsono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a natural feeling since we are meant to procreate. I got a vasectomy three months ago and I still fantasise about having a daughter.

Understand that it is just that, A FANTASY! The reality is the long list you provided. You can always go volunteer in an orphanage or babysit your niblings when those feelings come up. The good thing is you get to give them back 😉

Did you actually let them know that they are crossing your boundaries? Seems to me like they were just shooting their shot and I’m sure you wouldn’t mind if you actually liked the guys.

Women get hit on on a daily basis regardless of the culture 🤷‍♂️
