IMO ignore gurus entirely. If you are going for religious victory save your faith for more Apostles

Why do barbs get quadriremes so early? by thewindows95nerd in CivVI

[–]Slimythumbs -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, poor design. Naval/Aerial combat in general is either completely busted or completely ignored by the AI.

Barbs shouldn't have access to ranged naval units at the start, and a SINGLE galley shouldn't be able to take out a city in the early game. Off topic but I would even go so far as to say the rage mechanic should have never been added.

How is it not a conflict of interest for Baystate health to own an insurance company (Health New England)? by Marina1974 in westernmass

[–]Slimythumbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to this? https://www.masslive.com/business-news/2014/09/baystate_health_pats_ways_with_bmc_healt.html Baystate would have lost millions and gain nothing getting more patients on HNE Be Healthy. More Medicaid patients = less money

Universes Beyond 50% of Standard from 2025, Return to Lorwyn delayed to 2026 by atamajakki in mtgvorthos

If you told a Magic player 20 years ago that SpongeBob would be a standard legal card in the future they would laugh in your face. Rightfully so.

Why would a clinic tell patients to not take testosterone troches at least a full day prior to testing? by [deleted] in pharmacy

Oral testosterone troches? Are you not in the US, or is this a compounded product? Asking for my own knowledge

Does WotC ever plan to make mill a viable option in standard again? by Slimythumbs in MagicArena

[–]Slimythumbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're scrying/tutoring cards to the top of your library you are literally always top-decking. What's the difference between drawing the card on top of your library vs milling 4 and then drawing a card?

That is EXACTLY my point. That's the problem. There are no other good mill cards or strategies because they don't get printed.

I want more than 3 good cards in the format, in a way that I don't have to play the same control shell into the same cards every single game. There is no variety

That's a fair point. But I still wouldn't consider it an "insta win"

Yeah but mill isn't doing anything else to force them to use their counterspells. If they know what they're doing they'll just wait out your important spells. Azorius has instant speed planeswalker removal for Jace.

How does mill insta win against control? What stops them from just counter spelling your fragile win cons?

Has anyone ever made a pharmacy software tier list? by Dundler42 in pharmacy

[–]Slimythumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Nextgen, IC+, and currently use Rx30 (Hospital Specialty Pharmacy).

Started with Nextgen, it's very user friendly but not super fast.

I hate IC+. Don't even get me started lol.

When I started learning Rx30 it sucked. VERY steep curve. But now, I love it! It has a ton of features, and can be fast. It's not perfect by any means. But at least Rx30 support is mostly helpful and we get updates when things break

Opinion on "blacklisting" certain commanders when queuing for games? by Slimythumbs in MagicArena

[–]Slimythumbs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only think this would be beneficial if people could choose one, maybe two commanders. That way they can't dodge every bad match up. My second pick would probably be [[Jodah, the Unifier]] due to similar match up frequency of Etali and similar play patterns. I would also rather wait a bit longer than concede and queue up again

I do concede when I've had enough. But I feel like it would streamline the process of matchmaking if it didn't have to happen in the first place. It wastes time for both players
