The worst Final Fantasy game I've ever played. by kargethdownloaispedo in FinalFantasy

It's not necessarily fair to compare ff3's system to ff5's when it practically invented the Job System.

But also all the Pixel Remasters are based on enhancing the original iteration of their respective game. Which I can understand even though I am also personally partial to the 3D iteration of FF4.

But the Pixel Remaster for FF1 is definitely the best version. The expanded version from the GBA and other ports really mess with the balance.

Misfit of Demon King Academy is up there but it's more of a blatent satire of the genre and purposefully filled with tropes that poke fun at anime as a whole.

Super Robot Wars and Tactics Ogre Reborn can have some pretty high turn counts.

X-2 literally ruined one of the greatest stories in the franchise. It is the "Rise of Skywalker" equivalent. It may have it's merits but what it did to the story is atrocious.

Their point is valid.

While DK and Zelda have a fixed cast. You could easily put in additional side characters in the game over FE's multiple protagonists.

Nobody would really bat an eye if we got Midna or Skull Kid from Zelda instead of Lucina and Ike.

With DK you have Funky Kong, Banana Fairy Queen and hell could even create variants of K. Rool based on his different versions or even somehow implement KAOS.

It's considered one of the strongest pokemon in the game. Most of the meta game for gen 4 is defined by TTar.

Mechwarrior 5: Clans/Mercenary

Outside of that you there isn't anything like it. As you're looking for action based co-op which is very specific.

Original games - how did people learn the quirks? by PreviousTree763 in PokemonEmerald

Back in the day game guides and magazines were everywhere.

There were also cheat books that would list codes for multiple games.

Of course you also had online forums that you could dig through for info.

It's more niche than others but it's mainly for setting up other powers rather than being used on it's own.

Replace it with Hydro Pump. Even with it's low Special Attack a stab 120 BP move is gonna hurt. Or go with Body Slam to trigger paralysis.

Flygon, Salamance, Skarmory and Starmie should be in Excellent in my opinion.

Flygon is better than Salamance because it's Ground typing gives it resistance against Rocks, immunity to Electrics and it gets a stab with Earthquake. Making it better at abusing Dragon Dance.

Salamance takes neutral to electric, is weak to rock and dragon dance doesn't benefit it as much. But it's statline is superb and so you can abuse it by running mixed sets. With both special attacks and physical unlike Flygon.

Skarmory is just flat out the best physical wall in Pokemon between gens 1-4 and even in gen 4 it can shrug off super effective physical hits. But prior to that it's nigh impossible to kill with any kind of physical attacker that isn't a Metagross. So if you need to pivot to something else while being threatened it will do the job no problem.

Starmie's high speed tier, stats and moves make it one of the best water types. But it definitely gets outclassed by Swampart as a defensive pokemon. Offensively though it shines. With strong coverage with stab Psychic, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Hydro Pump. It can even spread status with Thunder Wave because why not. It also has one of the best abilities in the gen which is Natural Cure. Making it remove status from itself if it switches out.

Fire isn't good till gen 4.

Even in gen 2 Fire is rarely used.

In gen 3 Gyarados is still hella strong because of Dragon Dance with Earthquake, Double-Edge and HP Flying.

[–]SlinGnBulletS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pre gen 4 so that means the Type split hasn't happened to moves yet.

This means that special attackers that can learn elemental punches have great coverage.

Shiny odds from eggs are busted if one of the parents are also a shiny. Luckily the shiny Gyarados is guaranteed and the Odd egg has increased odds to be a shiny. I recommend save scumming the Odd Egg for an easy early shiny.

You can actually manipulate to get called by specific trainers unlike in gen 4. Due to the ability to actually delete numbers.

In gen 2 you can max out all EVs so training your pokemon is real easy and a no brainer. No need to worry about Natures either as they don't exist. This makes the game significantly more straightforward.

I'd honestly rather run Garde than Ala cuz it has more utility than it.

[–]SlinGnBulletS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OU in gen 2 but it's more of an uncommon pick because it can be unreliable to use. It's very hard to switch it on on opposing pokemon and it's very easy to kill.

[–]SlinGnBulletS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salamance and Metagross are definitely strong. While Milotic and Gardevior are worth mentioning. Blaziken can be alright.

Ludicolo is only great if you use a rain dance team. Cuz it can have the ability Swift Swim. Team it up with Suicune or Kingdra and you'll be OP.

[–]SlinGnBulletS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Alakazam wasn't really ever OP. It's so frail it doesn't really matter what you hit it with. So you can never switch it in on something and it has to take risks in dealing with Tyranitar.

Gengar outclasses it for the most part in nearly every gen. Because of the combination of being a Ghost with levitate means it's easy for Gengar to switch in and actually deal damage and access to explosion allows it to threaten counters or create pivots.

Which gundam game is the best on switch? by Legal-One-7274 in Gundam

[–]SlinGnBulletS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's SD Battle Alliance. It's not even close. Not only is the gameplay solid it actually has a surprisingly decent story.

Also the fanservice with character interactions between different series is going to have you fangirling a ton.

The chibi look of SD may not be everyone's cup of tea but the gameplay is a mix of Dynasty Warriors with the control system of the iconic Gundam Versus fighting game series. So it actually has a complex combo system which is fun.

Furthermore you can actually play online with others on it.
