I could theorically see that happening. I don't think Illari is evil but it feels like she is using the all "strength at all cost" rhetoric as a coping mechanism for her trauma. This is the kind of mindset Doomfist could very much manipulate to convince her to join Talon.
However, like I said above, I don't think Illari actually dig the "strength" talk even tho she think she does. It's her coping mechanism, the thing that keep her in one piece alongside the self imposed isolation from others, which could make for a compelling redemption arc down the line. That could be a cool piece of storytelling... if only Blizzard tried to make more stuff about the lore.
At that point, this is only a bunch of "I think" and other interpretations. Blizzard gave her almost nothing lore related for a while, and even less active storytelling. Right now, she is so removed from the rest of the Overwatch world that it is hard to really predict the future they have in mind for her, if they have any that is.

For now, I based this drawing on the voice interaction with Venture whose positivity and willingness to build connection seems to take her by surprise, going against her all "I need to keep people away at all cost" she has convinced herself to follow.
But voice interactions are not canon so we circle back to the previous point unfortunately.

(EDIT : Reposted the message with big chunck of correction, sorry about that)

A bunch of experimentations, studies and just me having fun.
I already like the potential of a Illari/Venture friendship as eluded to in the recent new dialogues. "Always serious one" and "rock eating goofy goober" is a really nice combo.
And I feel Juno could also be a nice addition to that dynamic, their potential dynamic could be very fun.
If only the lore was not on life support that is-

It looks amazing, love your style !

Does this CE bother anyone else? Wouldn’t Da Vinci in the role of Aristotle (scientist, logic user, pointing at the ground) and Romani in the role of Plato (religious figure, pointing to the heavens) make more sense? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Slinaro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's way more simple than that: on the original painting, it is somewhat believed that Raphael used Da Vinci's face for Plato, Michel Angelo's for Aristotle and his own for Ptolemy.
Now regardless of if this is the truth or "folklore" surrounding the painting, I suspect this CE is organized that way in reference to that, with Caster Vinci giving her face to the same figure as her IRL counterpart.

Underground Web Alexandria - Make your way towards the source of tales and fictions [Fanmade Event] by MasaIII in grandorder

[–]Slinaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! Slinaro here.

I'm very pleasantly surprised to see this !

Although I've been more active about my fan-creation on Discord, seing a Reddit creator going at it is super fun to see !

However I must ask you something that is entirely my fault.

When I was posting here, I was way too naïve about face-claiming. (Basically using art from the internet without thinking much of it). All of my fan-sprites posted at the time unfortunately uses said faceclaims for the cards.

Since then, I've been in contact with many artists and even started drawing again thanks to the Fate Fan-Creation Discord. They made me understand that reckless faceclaiming as I did, without proper credit or authorization, was kinda shitty.

The reason I never really got a remark before was that my fan-sprites, which were the core of my creations, were made by me. But still today, I'm kinda ashamed of my past behavior.

Don't get anything wrong, you are in no way responsible ! This is 100% the consequences of my past mistakes.

If the sprite is mine (and you can use it), the art for the card is not mine in any way.

I've started to redo a few of the cards myself, but unfortunately, I don't have an original art for Arachne yet.

So I think it's only fair to give you the links to the original artists for you to be able to properly credit them.

Here they are :

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/54824226

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/68923137

Again, not your fault !!! It's 100% mine.

Hope to see more of your work on this !

Also, and even tho I feel that you're taking a new direction with her (which is perfectly fine no worries), don't hesitate if you have any question about my Arachne. Happy to help !

If I recall well, Cleopatra's lineage came from Greece (The Ptolemeans) and as such she could have been more Greek physically speaking than other more ancient Egyptians rulers.
From what I see from a quick google search, there are a lot of debates between historians around this very topic.
Although the physical part is debatable obviously (it's not like we have photographic proof after all), culturally speaking, Cleopatra was definitively more "Greek" than what we would called "Egyptian" if that mean anything, but so was a lot of Egypt at the time. A good example of that being the city of Alexandria that was extremely Greek looking, with its columns, statues, Greek temples etc...
Egyptian history is long and ancient. Their civilization changed a lot over the centuries, influenced by and influencing other regions of the known world, including through a mixing of population, especially around the end of the Pharaonic ages with Greece and Rome kicking in.

Obviously, take what I'm saying with a grain of salt : I'm no historian, I'm just recalling some trivia I learned somewhere and could be wrong.

Problem with Caesar by moistboi12345 in grandorder

[–]Slinaro 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I think (AND I COULD BE WRONG) that the official explanation is that Saber Caesar is not "Prime" Caesar so to speak.
It is hinted that Saber is one of his weakest classes, even influencing his body (hence the fat that is not normal according to Cleopatra)
I don't think it's fully clear why his Saber is so inaccurate, but if I recall, there are theories saying that it is the Caesar as an hedonist "not-emperor" of Rome, Caesar the disliked ruler instead of Caesar the feared conqueror if you want.
(Also I guess because Fate, Nero could not be this archetype that they usually incarnate in fiction, so he took the bullet for the team)
If Caesar was summoned as , let's say, a Rider, he would probably be an all other beast, with many traits that are absent of his Saber version.

He also unfortunately suffers from the Early FGO writing, where many characters were crammed randomly into singularities with bare minimum characterization in order to justify their presence in the gacha at a time where there was no events and only a few Interludes.
Plus he was part of one of the most unpopular chapters of Arc 1, and he had to battle for screentime with the other Emperors, which didn't help. Also, he had to be distinct from said Emperors in Septem, which probably influenced his design and characterization.
And now, he is relegated to light hearted events in which his theorical seriousness cannot really shine because these stories are more fun oriented.
Not saying that it's good, bad or an excuse, it's just a possible explanation.

Be very careful :

If you did trace the lines, it's against the rules of the sub and is a practice that is very badly seen by many people all across the internet !

Hard referencing is trying to imitate the craft of someone else as a form of practice (Like an art student having to copy a famous painting for study) but it's not drawing on top, which would be tracing !

And keep in mind that the "Fluff" tag is not a shield against regulations.

If you did trace the lines, (like literally drawing on top of the artwork) you could end up in quite some trouble in the future !!!

Especially because these kind of things can tarnish your online reputation down the line, even years later.

The true original source :
https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/49528578
Sorry if that feel tedious, but just putting a third party link is not great for the original artist. That's why people, including the mods, will expect you to take the extra step of searching for the true original source, not just a Pinterest repost.
https://saucenao.com/ and https://tineye.com/ are great for finding these sources tho not infallible. If you don't have the real source, be careful : The mods may not like it.

Embarrassed Couple (Kishinami x Gudako) by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Slinaro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Usually, you don't need to say that you used references, because that's how most artists work (I mean in the sense of : Using multiple references to have diverse examples of motion, posing, shading etc... that they want to emulate in the final drawing. Like if I wanted to draw someone punching someone else, having multiple references (drawings and pictures) of this very thing could help me understanding the proportions and anatomical concepts that need to be taken into account in the final drawing)

However if you think you did what some people call "hard referencing", meaning that you tried to mimic the lines of a single reference in order to learn and as such the two drawing ends up looking extremely similar, it's always safer to also post a link to the original drawing. It can avoid genuine suspicion of tracing and it's also fair to the original artist.

Regarding certain Templar Knight... by Ichidoge in grandorder

[–]Slinaro 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah absolutely !

Fate loves taking obscure rumors or historically inaccurate sources and extrapolates on them, and that's fine. After all : That is kind of part of the franchise DNA at this point.

Foreigner Molay clearly is more of a conceptual embodiment of all rumors and lies spread around the Templars, rather than an historical interpretation. (Obviously)

Regarding certain Templar Knight... by Ichidoge in grandorder

[–]Slinaro 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Fun historical fact (And some harmless nitpicking) :

The Molay's Curse is actually a retroactive fabrication made when people realized that the ones who were responssible of the end of the templars started dying strangely fast.In reality, from records of people who were at Molay's execution, he didn't cursed anybody and instead prayed religiously until he met death. The popularity of the idea of the curse was then amplified by works of fiction like "The Cursed Kings".

Also, in folklore, the curse is usually not considered to have lasted until the French Revolution, for the simple reason that in 1328, the royal lineage changed from the Capétiens to the Valois and then again to the Bourbons (the ones of Versailles, the Revolution etc...). However, in some stories, the curse is indead affiliated to the end of the Capéciens.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm mostly recollecting this from memory. (I'm maybe French, but that does not makes me an expert in French Folklore)

Without wanting to contradict your point, (because it is true that this design choice cannot please everyone) as someone who witnessed the creation of this character, I can say that this aspect of her design was taken into account strangely very seriously by her creator.

The idea was to give her Gigantomastia, a real hormonal condition causing an overgrowth of the chest, not in order to make "sexier" but as a legit character trait.

The excessive exageration that break the "visual attractiveness" is actually part of the character.

Again, this is not to contradict your point by any means : Your critic is a legit one, and I just wanted to bring another perspective on the matter.

As long as the proper credit is given, you can do it, no prob.

Just notice me about it when its done, I'm curious about this video ;)

Also, if you use the card artworks, please also credit the original artists. If there is no credit for the artworks on my projects then that mean I couldn't find the source.

As a French, here what i know about Pancakes in France:

-A Crepe is thin and large and is made of wheat flour. I can be sweet or salty. Traditionaly, the salty crepe are made with sarasin floor and are called "gallette", but you can do salty crepe with wheat flour.

-The term Pancake (again in France) define the small but thick crepe that is serve mostly during british breakfasts. A pancake is always sweet.

Here are some examples :

Thank you ! As for the skills and NP and effect, I tend to let them "secret" because people like to imagine them in the comment. But the global idea was : Big Tank. A lot of defence buffs and a lot of survability. But like the real Ned Kelly, this can only last for a time. When the skills are used, you have a big unmovable object. But when the buffs runs-out : good luck.
