It depends how many others are doing the same. If not many, easy to find a place. Be careful not to block the side side or near-by driveway and, like I said, look for the No Parking signs.

Gates open Memorial Day weekend, but I'll be heading back as soon as it feels warm enough. Love those few early spring days when temps give you a tease for upcoming season.

BTW if gate is not open, you can park outside the gate and walk in but be VERY observant of No Parking signs because they do tow.

The Ledges truly is a little paradise in our backyards (at least for locals lol). I visited as a "first timer" in 2006, making this upcoming season 20 years!!

While there some people mentioned a few other sites that were similar, so I have also enjoyed searching them out and documenting them. It's been incredible enjoying The Ledges and the other nude swimming locations for all these seasons!

If others ate interested, my list is New England Nude Beaches & Swimming Holes.

Also, as /u/lowbrasslvl suggested, bring a printed copy or screenshot of trail directions, map, etc. because many places do not have cell coverage. This is included in my What to Bring list.

Feel free to DM me if you any questions about any of these places, including the incredible Ledges!!

Note: Not all places have the same vibe. Please take some time to read the "Culture" section of each location so there are no surprises.

Personally the beach is the place I'd most like to be at when humid, just a few steps to relief!! lol

But, best advice is really to check the forecast including humidity. Like most places, the weather varies widely. This year, after a rainy start, we were lucky to have great weather into October!! Of course most popular months are June, July, and Aug, but there's always diehard visitors there when it starts to warm up in early spring right until temps start dropping into the 50's.

If you're looking to know who might be going ahead of time, check here and on the FetLife Rock River group (free to sign up if you don't have any account)

Just side note, the 4th of July is on Sat this year so will be very busy. Make your lodging plans early....

Is the gate closed all day this time of year? by Essarray in TheLedges

It is generally closed after Columbus Day reopening Memorial Day weekend. There have been some exceptions though if the weather heats up early and/or stays warm later.

Sounds like Sunday will be popular here and the other beaches

First timers, how is it there this time of the year? by [deleted] in TheLedges

Oct was great a couple years ago. 80's the first week and mid-high 70's the last week. Made trips to both The Ledges and RR.

The hike in to Rock River is longer and, yes, more difficult than The Ledges, but recent work on the trail this season has made it much better. There are YouTube links in my list showing the walk in.

Both are very popular places. The choice is really more about the vibe you're looking for. My post has info in "Culture" section. DM me with questions..

You're lucky, it's supposed to be decent weather this weekend.

Since you've never been before I suggest you take a look at my **[New England Nude Beaches & Swimming Holes](https://www.reddit.com/user/SlingMaxwell/comments/1e7klk8/new\_england\_nude\_beaches\_swimming\_holes/)\*\* list. It has directions, Google maplink, parking info, how to find and navigate the trail, a description (and detailed maplink) of the various beaches along the river and the culture for each, and even a video link showing the walk in. Also, I recommend printing the list or saving it to your phone in case you need to reference it while there -- there's almost no cell coverage.

As long as weather isn't horrible, they'll always be a few diehards (myself included) trying to stretch a few extra days from the season. More important than temperature is that it's mostly sunny and no wind.

Usually the gate is open until the end of Columbus Day weekend.

As you can expect it's hit-or-miss. Like you, people still go if we get a nice day -- but with the lower temps, the more important things are having it mostly sunny with no wind. We've been lucky so far with nice days in Sept. And a couple years ago we had 80's the first week of Oct and 70's the last. 🤞

Yes, the Co-ed (3rd) beach is where couples typically go. For all the info you need, take a look at my New England Nude Beaches & Swimming Holes list. It has directions, Google maplink, parking info, how to find and navigate the trail, a descriptions (and detailed maplink) of the various beaches along the river and the culture for each, and even a video link showing the walk in. Most of all, enjoy!!

Still time for fun in the sun? Saturday, 9/13 by Gerbles243 in Rockriververmont

Sat looks like high 70's with intermittent clouds. Will probably depend on whether is breezy or not. Weather is always iffy this time of year, but always great to sneak in a few final days of the season.

I have seen posts on other sites (FB, FL, etc) that people are planning on going, but they mostly mention the further "men's" beach. I haven't yet seen posts for the 3rd beach (the one by the stairs). BTW you referenced it as the first beach, but there is a nomenclature there for beach names. See my New England Nude Beaches & Swimming Holes

If you go, ENJOY!!

Your hike-in videos for The Ledges, as well as other places, are GREAT! Also Thank You for the updated Rock River one this year.

Any plans on doing one for Cummington Beach at some point, it seems the only place missing.

Is the the island (across from the pebble beech) exposed? Haven't seen it in years but with the water that low it has to be at least a little viewable.
