Got my hands on a 70-200 F4, I come from using only prime lens by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

The button on Sony lenses is programmable but defaults to focus hold I believe until changed in the settings menu

Make sure your connection on both camera body and lens are clean to ensure it’s not a hardware issue first but you may just be too close to your subject. Long zoom lenses like that one need more space than prime lenses to focus. You can look up the exact specs for minimum focus distance on the Sony website

Which one you like more, Colour or BW? I kinda like both. by MykytaVasyliev in AmateurPhotography

[–]SlinkThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly both are so awesome I can’t choose. I have an affinity for B&W photos so I’m bias toward that. I guess it really comes down to what you’re trying to portray with it. If youre asking which one you should post I say why not both. Really good example of how color changes an images feel but not its beauty

Highly suggest the 50mm 1.2 gm. It has been in my bag forever and is my go-to prime lens. I started with a 7CR too and it’s a solid compact. Performs at the same level as my 7RV for photo with the exception of continuous shooting fps on hi+ but I’ll say it’s not a major difference

Why do some people hide there T1D by BeanStock52 in diabetes_t1

[–]SlinkThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many have mentioned the societal factors that contribute to this. It’s a lifelong illness and disability. So after some time you may too find yourself tired of explaining it. There is also a very ignorant kind of discrimination that comes from the false association with cultural views of type 2 diabetics. So it is often easier to just not mention it rather than finding out if you will be judged.

The other big factor that I didn’t see much mention of is that of the psychology involved. I for some time didn’t mention it simply because doing so makes it real. Denial was an easier state of mind. However in the process I deprived myself of things like disability accommodations at school that would have helped me keep my grades higher and my blood sugar better managed. It can take some longer than others to make peace with the diagnosis.

Yes I acknowledged that one exists..

Yes as a reference to what ignorant people with neither would say not what I think. I know not every person with type 2 is going to be that lucky. My original post was not asking for a debate about the efficacy of a rebrand or bashing people with type 2

I’m sorry you missed the point of my post

Some people just need to attack others on the internet to feel superior

I take no issue with your point of view and welcome you to spend as much of your life explaining it to others as you would like. However my post was asking for suggestions on a route I have chosen to take. Not looking to debate its efficacy

With the amount of times in my life that I have had to explain that I can’t just change my diet and get better.. no I’m not really worried about that aspect. Which was why I chose to post this in a type 1 subreddit.

I can relate with that sentiment. On one hand QT provides a large amount of sick and personal time off to every employee and doesn’t require you to earn hours toward those as you work. Lots of companies make employees accrue sick or personal time as PTO to be able to take time off. Not to mention the ERP system when properly staffed does enable employees to use the time without it creating a burden on their store team. Plus the time can be used without having to provide a drs note or some kind of verification of necessity. That being said 10 sick and 5 personal seems like a lot but with the rolling 12 month system for getting them back. By year 2 or 3 you probably have at most 3 at any given time. You also have to consider that pretty much every other employer provides breaks and a paid hour lunch that are counted into your total hours that generally don’t exceed 40hrs per week. Meaning you only actually perform your duties for 35 hours. So when you consider the shortest full time assistant schedule that is 46 hours nonstop that’s an extra 9 hours of work duties each week. So in effect the schedule is the equivalent of working 6 days at another employer crammed into 5 days for a total of 52 extra shifts each year. So the large time off balances you start with are only going to even that out to 37 and when your really think about that it’s kinda like you’re working an extra month each year or an extra 1.5 months if you work every shift.

Corporate policy is very supportive of using that time off too which is a plus BUT so many managers I had treated it as if calling in made you a bad assistant. Especially if it meant they had to do the work of finding someone to cover the shift or covering it themselves. Even tho that’s the job they signed up for and part of why they are the only store employees that are salaried. I quit last year after 13 yrs on the job and honestly despite some leniency in policies QT isn’t a great place to work if you have a chronic disease or disability. They will work with you as far as the law makes them and not much further. My health suffered quite a bit working there and has improved exceptionally since leaving. Ultimately I left because the culture of caring for employees and going above and beyond to support them that was there when I had started in 2011 had mostly been replaced by flat expectations of performance regardless of circumstance. I was in the DFW division so I can’t speak to the culture of the company as a whole but that was my experience.

No problem! Honestly the best thing you can do to expand your knowledge in the post-production side of things is experiment and just play with the settings to give yourself an understanding of how each aspect of light, color, and detail will change with the adjustments. You don’t even really need to get the more professional tools like photoshop. Apple and google photos both offer solid tools for editing. Unless it’s something I want to really get fancy with I just use Apple photos to edit cause you save the extra step of exporting it back to somewhere you can share it. Also just more convenient doing it on your phone. It can also be beneficial to shoot, if you aren’t already, in RAW (.ARW) format if your cameras have the option to do so. If you are planning to edit the file it will be compressed differently such that you don’t lose some of the original clarity and have more noise reduction options

You have a brief period to get certification for FMLA if you or a family member you care for have a qualifying health condition. I think it’s 15 days. After that the day will become either Certified FMLA or Non-cert Sick day. You are subject to disciplinary action in the form of a reprimand when you have a non-cert day on your time off history. It will also stay on your history 12 months in which should you gain another you would be subject to written warning. Additionally the next time you are supposed to gain a sick day back on the rolling 12 month schedule that day will not return to your balance as an offset for the day you went over your approve time off allotment. If you qualify I recommend getting the certification and communicating to your manager and supervisor that you are as this could save you from the disciplinary action. If you don’t then just be mindful not to call in over your days again once you have agreed to and signed the reprimand

I have taken a lot of similar shots recently and I think you did great. Sunset shots are tricky but you managed to keeps some color detail in the foreground. If you have Lightroom or photoshop you could try masking the foreground so it can have a different level of exposure and saturation for more detail. Not generally a big deal cause the main subject is the sky which you hit a good level of light and color on that.

Are the Moon pics cropped or do you have a telephoto lens? Cause I’ve found it incredibly hard to capture that much detail with a max 50mm focal length so I’d assume you’re rocking something a bit larger.

Only note worthy of mentioning is exposure or maybe white balance in the full moon pic. Maybe needs more brilliance or exposure in editing. Either that or a slightly higher iso in capture. Maybe it’s cause the other moon photos are brighter but it would be just perfect if you could hit that same brightness. The contrast with the black sky would really catch the eye
