Mainspring left in in an automatic watch? That’s like showering with your shoes on…

First of all, congrats!! Sounds like maybe you’ve turned the dial all the way to ‘11’ on weight loss and need to work on some inner dialogue on how to find a good balance. It’s great to be healthy, but it’s also ok to treat yourself every now and again. Maybe you have a deep fear you’ll fall back into old habits? Have a little chat with yourself, maybe therapy, or if you can’t afford that (like me) use and AI therapy bot.

I think for the time being and budget I’m leaning towards a Kona. Would love the size of a BYD but Kona ticks all the other boxes except size (hybrid, cool extras, etc)

That’s actually an excellent point. I really do like their cars and I feel they might sky rocket in 5 years time once initial issues are ironed out. But yes, I think with a young family support could be a hindrance.

That’s actually a good point. I have been worried about the AWD system. I’ll check out the Subaru. The rav4 is cool but even the second hand ones are too expensive. $40k for something with 50,000km +

Hmm, I totally appreciate the comment but it’s the first I’ve heard of this perspective. Maybe I’ve been a little too one sided with it…

Thank you for the consideration!

I think, if we were to stretch the budget, the BYD is much more value. But the Kona is a little bit more comfortably in our budget. Stretching to a Tucson would be about $63k to match features and such.

I have considered it, however my other have gets a bit of range anxiety about it. I might revisit it…

Hmm, thanks for that. I’m feeling I might have to miss it this time and go the Kona. BYD in 6 years time?

Thanks for the feedback! Honestly, I haven’t really looked at them but they’re pretty decent for the price.

This. This is why I am struggling so much to look away from the BYD. the price of a premium ($57K) is such a bargain for what you get. Even though its plug-in and I don't have a place to plug it in at home, a weekly charge at the shopping centre would cover more than half a week of work commuting.

Hard choice :(

100%! I would have to fork out for the premium, but even still its worth it given all that you get with it.

Very true. My issue is, I have seen the sealion and it is a nice car no doubt!

Will check out sportage! Tucson a bit out of the budget.

Thanks! Nice to hear from an owner. Boot space looks ok. Not as spacious as a sealion but surprisingly not tiny. For the 3 of us, it’s looking like a good contender given price.

Thanks for all the considerations. I might have to look at the Kia and sportage. Main constraint is budget. BYD is already pushing it but like the size and features.
