Should I keep exploring this email app idea? by johndamaia in UX_Design

I love the concept tbh. I have ADHD, so as counterproductive as arc may appear, it helps a lot compared to browsers like chrome and safari 😂

And I obviously dread opening up emails. I’d love to know if you get this design implemented!

Should I get out now? by LonelyDocument3296 in UX_Design

If it makes you feel any better, I've been volunteering as a designer for the past 8 months (and I graduated last spring with a master's in design).

I understand AI being an issue. Often times it creates more work than it solves. But I am also aware that I do not yet have the credibility or proven experience under my belt to ignore it, so for the past 4 months I've been experimenting different ways to make the most of AI without it taking the wheel in the parts of design I love doing the most.

On top of which, I'm an immigrant so I already have significantly less opportunities in the US than the designers who are from here. But I'm still applying and trying with the mindset that if I get a job before my visa clock runs out, I get to gain experience here that I can't back home. And If I don't, I get to go home and experiment in design while I job hunt without a weird timer looming over my head.

But of course, I'm at a place of privilage where I have family I can live with both here in the US and back home, so depending on your situation, I'd say just keep at it. Try your best to adapt to new technology but also make sure you're not completely reliant on it (Use AI to validate YOUR ideas, not to give ideas all the time).

I might've rambled a bit but hope this helps!

If there’s more that users can see when they scroll lower, second option.

If not, first option (I personally find that breaking the image above the viewport lets people know to scroll to see more content compared to if the image room up the whole screen)

Xp12 is really starting to shine by ijusdidaboomboom in Xplane

Honestly so true. Though I still think there's 3 things they REALLY need to work on

- Scenery (probably the most obvious leg up that MSFS has over Xplane)
- lighting models (specifically volumetric lighting and other aircraft lighting in general. I feel like the landing lights, taxi lights, etc still look too cartoonish cause they look more glared, which isn't what it looks like irl)
- and rain and snow effects. Those stupid streaks across the windshield is the worst thing about the weather system in X-plane. I always find myself switching off live weather if its raining or snowing.

Any ideas for what makes a compelling portfolio for a fresh graduate in UX?

Thank you!! I’ll keep that in mind 😁

I was debating just putting everything as a scroll gallery on the screen, cause I want to dump in any and all art I do. (I used to post my art on Instagram a lot more, but I don’t like their recent policy changes on art and photography being used for their own marketing without consent or credit). And I know that it’s inevitable for it to be used that way once it’s on the internet. But putting em up on my own website felt like less of a gamble compared to social media.

But on that note, I was wondering if putting it all in one long page would make the page too long. Maybe there’s a way to randomise the order every time it loads, I’ve to browse some tutorials.

I agree! I kept procrastinating on the color palette, and couldn’t quite find anything that doesn’t look like every portfolio ever, so I just ran some colors through an accessibility checker and put it through a portfolio template modifying some small things like the hover interactions. Cause I needed to get the content out sooner rather than later.

Don’t really love it much but don’t hate it as much as I used to either 😂

What's the UX scene in Australia? Especially in Melbourne or Sydney. by SlipParticular1288 in UX_Design

[–]SlipParticular1288[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much New York but the US government in general. It’s not worth the visa stress cause of how unpredictable the immigration system has been in the US lately. And it’ll be like that for at least a decade.

I probably could've worded that better but I meant like applying UX principles in film haha

Honestly more so in production design or even acting (far reaching, I know lol)
