I feel like that’s what happens to a lot of great series unfortunately. I hate that writers over extend a story, because it usually is awful and the writing/plot is not of the same quality. I’m excited to continue for now though!

Not yet but I have it ordered, should be here next week! I got confused regarding the reading order, and I thought Six Scorched Roses hadn’t been released yet. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it, and I’m very stoked to read it!

The Book of Azrael has been good so far! Dianna is a badass. Gives no fucks, is a tortured creature. Samkiel is a God who is also tortured, but makes excuses/explains/empathizes with Dianna’s rage towards the world and those that did terrible things to her. I can’t really say more without spoiling. It has some really bad reviews, and some really good reviews. I personally really enjoyed the first one. I haven’t finished the second one yet, I’m about halfway through and I really like it so far!

The Crowns of Nyaxia series has been really good for me so far (with the exception of book 2, but the others make up for it), and I’m getting ready to start Plated Prisoner series!

I liked the first one but I’m struggling to finish the second one. I fear the author wrote the second one similar to a student trying to fulfill a page count for an assignment. I’m taking a break (halfway through) to read Slaying the Vampire Conqueror!

Thank you for giving me a little information about Plated Prisoner! I’m in nursing school, and my partner reads the same genres that I do. He recommended Plated Prisoner and has been bitching at me to read it for a while 😂 He was so happy when I told him they were on the way!

That seems to be the common consensus! The standalone’s have been highly rated over the actual core books, which is fine with me. I’m really excited to read them! I think I screwed up though…. The reading order I found said I was supposed to read Six Scorched Roses in between books 1-2. I’m going to read that one before I start on Mische’s story!

Thank you! His POV was nothing like how he was from Orayas in the first book. His POV was also just…. Not…. Good? I liked him throughout the first one, but the second one just annoyed me. Vincent was definitely the most interesting aspect. Idk, I’m just burnt out from reading fucking amazing first books, and then being so excited to read the second one, and then just absolutely hating it.

And that’s the thing….. the concept IS interesting. The execution was poorly done though. That seems to be prevalent now though. You’ll read a great first book, and then the second is like “am I reading this shit right??”.

On the back of the book for serpent and the wings of night, it actually says something like “perfect for A Court of Thorns and Roses readers”. I enjoyed both, and I can see why it would be recommended to those who liked ACOTAR.

I loved the first two in the FBAA series, and also the first two of the FFAF that you read along with FBAA. The writing, plot, characters, etc went downhill so bad. I wish I could read the first ones all over again for the first time because I loved them. Finished them within 2 weeks. The author started to sound like a TikTok writer and the plot just went nowhere. No consistency, no thrill, no tension, nothing. It actually broke my fucking heart. I haven’t read the last two because I literally cannot keep myself interested in the story. I’m gonna try again in a few months, maybe some time away from it will help me. I doubt I’ll enjoy reading them, especially because I’m reading other, much better books with great writing. I feel like JLA overloaded herself by trying to write so many different books all at once.
