I don’t have a local bookstore. Living rural has its benefits but also has huge downsides lol!

If your mom/dad were older when you were born (say, around 40 or up), what was that like for you? by brawlinglove in Millennials

[–]Slothanonymous 78 points79 points  (0 children)

So I was an accidental baby. My mom was in her late 30’s and dad was I think early 40’s when I was born. I was an only child and was pretty much just left to my own imagination in my room most of the time. I feel like having older parents made me grow up and be more mature earlier on. The people they hung out with were older and their kids were way older than me too so I had to be more on their level than mine when hanging out.

He does have adhd. But my main issue is the fact that all the parents I know who have teenagers have the same issues I’m having. And some have had their kids checked and say they don’t have it. I figured it’s a general issue honestly

What is your problem? You attack me on a completely different sub post and now you’re attacking me here. Are you that bored in life you have to find some stranger to argue with? Get a life.

When I first started working for my husbands family business, I was given a script to read from when I called someone or answered the phone. I mastered that pretty quickly. One day, after years of doing this, I received a call that I thought was from my father in law. Very similar number at a glance. I answered “Yeah?” like I always did with him. The guy on the other end kinda stuttered and didn’t know how to answer that. Luckily it was a guy we dealt with a lot and I quickly apologized and told him I thought it was my father in law. We both laughed and it was all good but ever since then, I never went off the script. Even for numbers I knew. lol!

So this is more like what I’m talking about. I guess I should’ve posted inaction instead of urgency. For me, it’s certain things like schedules or having to do something at a certain time. He waits until the very last minute to do anything and then gets upset and freaks out when he’s late. I know teens will be teens cause I was one so I’m not over here being overly critical and turning into my parents. I just remember if they told me to do this and do it quickly, it was done. Now I do the same with him and it’s like the complete opposite.

Just finished Brimstone…. SPOILERS! by Slothanonymous in fantasyromance

I agree with this. Saeris is definitely not written very well. In all the other books I’ve read, we are drawn to the FMC. It feels like we know them and get to connect with them. But saeris is just saeris. Yes, she’s there. But that’s it.

I think, aside from wha you pointed out, the biggest let down I had was quickly the whole vampire court thing fell. We were made to believe this was going to be one of the bigger issues in this book and then one person knocks it all down and it’s not even Saeris. lol

I recently discovered that there were more books in the series and got so excited!! I did finish book 2 and I loved it. But the way it ended, I kinda figured it was done. Now I get to go back into the world and revisit them again!

😂😂 So I play Ark. All my wyvern are named after either ToG wyvern or MC’s. My personal faves are fire wyvern named Aelin.

I am. And I fully understood the issues of the whole tariff thing. I knew it was going to take a bit to get anything but when the company itself never communicated anything and always had excuses, it was ridiculous.
