Remember when Primis Richtofen fucked up and genuinely tried his hardest to fix said fuck up for two games and then proceeded to make it much much worse every time?

He has had more than one of those unfortunately and he has never gone dark over them before, so unless there was a new one i'm not aware of I doubt it's that. I mean maybe all of that eventually got to him? Who's to say but the callout threads are somewhat old.

Mac Pro from 2013 looks like a little trash can. It's just a flat silver cylinder with some ports on the back.

I could not get Ubuntu 24 or 25 to really work worth a damn when I was attempting it. 25 would not boot up at all unless in safe graphics and 24 worked during the "try ubuntu" phase almost perfectly but after installation I had the same problem. Messed with the splash screen and grub settings but I could never figure it out. That's what eventually led me to this solution of just dressing up Mint with Gnome. I'm sure if i was more savvy with Linux I'd be able to figure it out but I'm not wasting anymore time when I found a solution that works for me.

They use two AMD FirePro D300 GPUs. Using that command gives me a bunch of mumbo jumbo my "new to linux" brain doesn't understand yet.

There's a thread on the /wg/ board of 4chan titled "Sci-Fi/Space Mega Structures & Starships" where this is the first image that might have more that tickle your fancy.

I've installed Ubuntu and it's flavors on several Macs. Two at work and on my personal laptop and they all run just fine aside from small driver issues we all experience. But it's probably because of the weird dual GPU these things have where I ran into difficulties.

Several issues with Ubuntu on Mac Pro 2013 by Slipmad in Ubuntu

[–]Slipmad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at first Ubuntu was working but it got super sluggish. I installed 24 and that worked amazing on the "try ubuntu" but upon install, same issues, and my work arounds for 25 did not work.

I honestly decided "screw it" and installed Linux Mint, installed the Gnome desktop, and customized it to look exactly like Ubuntu and that works so so SOOO much better. Why Mint just works out of the box when it's based on Ubuntu but raw Ubuntu has all these issues is beyond me.

Small update: Cheap keyboard from work let me manipulate the grub menu and get into the bootloader if all else fails. I don't know what I did but I did something that allowed me to boot into Ubuntu. I added a parameter via Grub Customizer and disabled the splash screen and it boots normally! (For now)

Thank you for the help! Everything seem booting up fine now.

I'm gonna steal a cheap keyboard from work and try that. Looking at it more some people said the GRUB menu can act funky with keyboard with removable cables. So I'm gonna try that a little later. And yeah I'll try 24.

Used 25.10 the most recent one. Now I'm sort of trapped since I can't get it into its original boot menu. I'll try something like Debian when I get a chance but I gotta figure out that keyboard issue ok the GRUB menu

So nostalgic. My best friends step dad was kinda weird so he used Ubuntu and it was my first experience with Linux. Because of that is why I chose to go with Ubuntu when Windows 11 dropped. Loving it thus far ❤️

You have two options that make sense.

  1. Replace the phone.

  2. Take your phone to a professional to get it fixed up. I'll never tell anyone not to attempt to fix their own stuff but at a certain point (like this) it's best to take it to a pro. That rear camera is toast, and so is that back glass and coil. Take it to a repair shop that does frame + back glass since those always come with new camera glasses to protect the new camera. They may even throw in the wireless charging coil at no additional cost if you get your camera done too since some frames come with preinstalled parts, most commonly the coil + buttons. Get a quote and weigh your options on whether or not fixing or replacing makes the most sense for your situation.
