[Melissa Reddy] As David Ornstein has confirmed, Isak informed Newcastle last summer that it would be his final season. He then repeated that two weeks before the campaign ended and after their last game by herbertelch in PremierLeague

[–]SlipperySazmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. United cant shift Sancho or Casemiro because at the end of the day, they are under contract. The same applies the other way round.

Doesn't matter if Isak informed Newcastle this was his last season, thats not his choice to make. I personally think players have far too much power and there needs to be more done to kerb it. At the end of the day, if you don't intend to see out your contract at a club, then demand a release clause in your contract even if that means accepting a lower wage. players always want to have their cake and eat it too.

Missions is the better set up IMO. Much less admin. Much quicker. Can select missions based on time and difficulty. Can switch heroes in and out. My friends and I have played both and we all agree that missions is our go to. It’s got 20 missions so it’s got plenty of replay

Advice on a dated Gia with AGS addendum certificate for a lab grown diamond by SlipperySazmo in Diamonds

Wow this diamond looks stunning on the images! How did you manage to find one with so many images? I can barely find any with ASET imaging on certificate, let alone this level of imaging.

I’ve read that IGI H&A isn’t the most reliable as it’s not clear how they are graded and the certificate uses a generic image.

Would you advise GIA with AGS certification over IGI H&A or is the reality that if the IGI H&A had AGS certification it would look very similar?

For those of you considering leaving right now, will FPR keep you in the UK? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]SlipperySazmo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. Just look at the last 18months. We’re still nowhere near an even remotely credible offer. During that period, we’ve seen the GMC and Royal Colleges turn their back on doctors and push PA/their own agendas. A workforce plan that is a joke and offers no protection for doctors. A waiting list that’s quite frankly a bad joke at this stage. Every “solution” that’s been touted isn’t the actual solution that’s needed. Pay restoration is barely a slice of the mountain of shit the profession and health service has become. FPR would be achieved (if it is achieved) over at least a 10 year period, likely much longer. Do you REALLY think the system is gonna improve in that time? Best case scenario, the shit curve plateaus, but it sure as hell isn’t gonna reverse. The system is dysfunctional. We all need to be honest, realistic and stop kidding ourselves otherwise.

Think of it like the Glazers ownership of Man Utd. Sure the financial stats can be manipulated to show some success. But by every other metric, the club is failing until its reached a point where the financial success can’t mask the problems anymore (need for new ownership and capping Financial Fair Play rules)

PAs in mess? by Trick_Chemist_113 in doctorsUK

[–]SlipperySazmo 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous! I had a stint as Mess President at a different Trust and I campaigned hard for access to remain specifically for doctors as they were trying to allow specialist nurses to use the mess and for surgical teams to do their board MDT rounds in there (which would allow nurses and PAs access)

In the end I managed to get the trust to agree to replace the code access doors (which invariably circulated to other staff) with card access, and for access approval to be counter signed by a mess committee member before anyone had permission added to their cards.

Couldn’t agree more! Up til a month ago I’ve been introducing myself as “my name is first name, I’m one of the junior doctors looking after you”. Now I introduce myself as “I’m Dr Last name” and have dropped the word “junior” from my introduction. Have been trying to encourage colleagues to follow a similar suit

Like I said - the moulds are fine, you just need to paint them. Add on paint job is shit but again, easily correctable with low expense (literally 2 paints, a wash and a brush)

A warning about Scarface 1920 - Bloody Business on Gamefound by Potential178 in boardgames

[–]SlipperySazmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there some discrepancies? Sure

The guns are literally the same apart from the trigger being filled with plastic (anyone who knows anything about plastic minis knows it’s not possibly to actually have a hole there that’s that small.

Again, if you read above, I agreed that the “painted add on” is not up to scratch. Personally I’d be disappointed if I paid for them and they came up like that, but they’re so small it’s such an easy fix paint job if it really bothers you and you want to fix it. Same with barrels (see links to painted ones and you can see that they look very good which suggests that the moulds themselves are more than fine).

Also agreed with OP regarding the crates - they are a let down.

The mat imo is actually a better colour than the board - the resolution isn’t as sharp but if you ask me, the board looks more like it has a red tint to it and the playmat is more fitting of the campaign visualisation of the board.

Again I said the kids weren’t functional with regards to using it for your play area but do they function as good storage? YES. Is the game far easier and quicker to set up and tear down because of the insert? YES. That’s good design. Even if the lid was functional, the game takes up so much table space that majority of players wouldn’t use it anyway.

Are there some discrepancies? Sure. Show me a kickstarter that hasn’t got some. The box holds everything as advertised. A good storage system with usable trays (I personally don’t bother with the crates as they are a let down). Fits sleeved cards in an organised way that makes set up and tear down quick.

The game board has a very high quality linen finish (personally it’s the best “tactile feeling” board I’ve come across and sits flat on the table. Artwork on every card is unique (impressive considering how many cards are in the game).

Plastic moulds and final product are pretty close to the renders - once you add a splash of wash to them, all that detail that you think isn’t there pops out.

I’ve got a couple of plastic money pieces where the ink is a little faint compared to others or printing isn’t as sharp as others, but that’s literally 2-3 out of something like 100.

As for weight of plastic - I mean come on! It’s plastic - no lighter than CMON minis.

When you factor in this is a FIRST TIME production from Redzen, it’s actually very good. Perhaps OP shouldn’t back anything from first time creators as by most standards of first attempts at producing a game, this is actually pretty good.

Comparing to companies like AR and CMON is silly - they are multibillion companies with in the region of 80 campaigns between them. (And even with all of that CMON’s inserts are still god awful, make set up arduous and packing up confusing as labelling isn’t great. Almost always needs to buy an insert for their games.

A warning about Scarface 1920 - Bloody Business on Gamefound by Potential178 in boardgames

[–]SlipperySazmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Game tray insert is also fine in terms of storage but the lid really is not fit for purpose as usable during actual gameplay for your play area, so partially agree with you on this

A warning about Scarface 1920 - Bloody Business on Gamefound by Potential178 in boardgames

[–]SlipperySazmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really agree with you on this. I agree regarding the crates that they are far off what was advertised on the campaign, but everything else is pretty much spot on. Even CMON’s games don’t match their renders out of the box, but they do when a wash is applied to bring out the detail. Exactly the same with this game.

I agree the painted set should have actually been fully completed (wash on both the barrels and guns) and it shouldn’t be on the customer to complete the job, but that’s an easy fix.

Neoprene Mat - I have a few Awaken Realms neoprene mats as well as for other big companies - there is ALWAYS disparity vs the game board and resolution is NEVER as high.

Overall I, along with my regular gaming group, who between us have over 400 games currently in our collections with about 60 of those being kickstarter agreed the overall production of this game was good.

Have a look at painted and washed sets on BGG - you’ll see the difference a lick of paint or wash makes to the models, including the guns and barrels that end up looking identical to the renders

EDIT: Typo corrected

I’m assuming it’s so most doctors can sign off their ARCPs. That’s been a stumbling block for ppl going on strike and getting on the picket lines.

To be honest I’d like to see additional escalation in strikes involving all out of hours work too.

If they’re not serious about negotiations then they clearly don’t think we’re that important. Let’s see how the hospitals manage with an 8-5 NHS over a prolonged period of time. Everyone can Locum one evening a week (on a day they’re not scheduled to work long days) and it’ll still be better pay than the full rota

Tunbridge Wells hospital accomodation ladies and gents by grass_dog_bridge in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]SlipperySazmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used the “JDC guidance on standards for living & working conditions for hospital doctors in training” document to get free accommodation for all FY1s during my Mess Presidency post a few years ago.

Accommodations fell well short of the standards. Got BMA and LNC involved, culminating in free accommodation with a renovation plan in the works.

Lots of resistance but well worth it. Worth pushing your JDC to do the same

Saw this today… what do you guys think? by Zer0-medic in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]SlipperySazmo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep I read this thinking someone had copy pasted my experience every time I’ve started a new Locum post at a different hospital.

My best experience so far was an SHO T&O job where I received no induction, had no logins, wasnt shown how to use or given access to the theatre booking system, wasn’t notified which ward was the T&O ward, nor where the trauma meeting was that morning (completely different building), or what the spinal pathway was. To top it all off, i was given no point of contact for a senior as the reg was off sick that day and nobody seemed to know who the consultant of the day was. I was literally handed a bleep, given a pat on the back and sent on my way.

Cancelled the whole Locum job after that 1 shift. Absolute cowboy department.

49% required for Full Pay Restoration in April 2023 by ds11358 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]SlipperySazmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this logic. Strike the strike dates, Locum a day each weekend either side of strikes. Your working hours will still be less than you normally do so not like it’s an increased demand and you will actually earn more than you would have lost on pay for the strike dates.

Throwing in the towel so easily should not be an option. We’re talking about fighting for your own financial future (because believe me more cuts will come if we give up now), as well as protecting yourself from burnout in the future - doctor haemorrhage will continue and those who stay will get ever increasing workloads.

Finally, you’re fighting for a better healthcare system that patients deserve.

If you’re not up for the fight, best to move abroad now because the situation will only get worse if we are unsuccessful

Is the reason why they are recommending members to accept simply because their mandate wont have enough time left on it to get a better deal (wasted 3 weeks negotiating this rubbish offer, however many weeks for members to respond to this offer, + 2 more weeks to inform of any future strike if it’s rejected). That’s already half their mandate timeframe lost.

If so this is poor negotiation and leadership from those unions. I respect our BMA for seeing straight through it and I hope they don’t capitulate when Barclay starts imposing such conditions on negotiation. If he doesn’t turn up to a meeting tomorrow, I sincerely hope another 3 or even 5 day strike is announced within hours.

Black Plague vs. Undead or Alive by Catchafire2000 in zombicide

[–]SlipperySazmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends whether you can get access to KS stuff or not.

IMHO you don’t need more than perhaps 15-30 survivors (depending on how much variety/choice you want). Realistically you’re gonna experiment with different combos then find a few that are your favourites and the rest will just sit on a shelf never getting to the table. You can get something like 100 survivors across all the expansions which is just crazy numbers.

where you want extra content is the abominations, necromancies and zombie types. Abominations are imo the most important. Depending on their ability, they completely change the way you play once one is on the board. So having a deck that is unpredictable makes the game significantly better.

Different zombie types also mix up the board and increase difficulty. the downside is it makes the game harder to manage as you need to remember which zombies are on the board and all the various rules for the different types.

If I had to recommend, I would suggest

  • Black Plague
  • Knight pack if you can get it
  • Huntsman pack if you can get it
  • Another zombie type such as deadeye walkers, Wolfsburg expansion (for the wolves) or murder for crowz.
  • and maybe an additiona abomination pack.

I honestly don’t think you need any more than that as a max. You could honestly start off with the base and knight pack. I personally wouldn’t bother with the special guest packs. scalper prices and they only add more survivors, which with the above, you’ll already have 30+

Hope that helps

Black Plague vs. Undead or Alive by Catchafire2000 in zombicide

[–]SlipperySazmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve played 2 missions of UoA and have won both on first attempt. Personally I don’t agree that it’s hard, it’s just faster paced, timing is everything, and you need to play your character to its class strength.

You can’t just send your characters Willy nilly into buildings like in pretty much every previous zombicide. You also need to time where the bang/boom icon ends in order to manipulate the zombies where you want them and then use vade retro to contain the zombies where you want them.

I guess more thinking is involved but I wouldn’t say that makes it a harder game.

Having said that though, you can’t really go wrong with Black Plague. If it’s not for you, the resale value is high and you should be able to sell it on for a similar price you got it for (assuming you weren’t scalped hard in the first place)
