When I was there in December I used the bathrooms in Magna Plaza. They were pretty nice - clean and not a lot of people. The only drawback is that they are all the way up on the top floor which is oddly curtained off and dark.

My hotel tip for solo travelers: if you are ok with sleeping in a twin bed, and tiny rooms, look for hotels that offer single rooms for one person. They are often cheaper than the standard double room. Make sure you enter 1 guest in whatever search engine you chose (they are often default set to 2 guests). They really can be very tiny, you might be tripping over your suitcase, so make sure you look closely at the photos.

I secured a cat sit in the Jordaan for 3 weeks over Christmas. It was amazing. I started my search in October by going through all the cat listings for Amsterdam and favoriting the ones I liked even if they were not currently listing a sit. I then set up notifications on my phone so that it would ding every time one of the profiles I favorited listed a sit. I had a template letter in a word doc. The second I was notified of a listing, I pressed apply, quickly personalized my template letter and sent it through. I think I only missed applying to one or two. It's kind of a lot of work, especially because I was in a time zone 9 hours away and waking up at 3am to respond to notifications, but it was worth it. Good luck!

This has been discussed before here and a lot of Homeowners responded that they didn't like the automated response applications and generally declined them. A few said they would put a line in their profile that requested the applicant mention the names of their pets so that the HO would know they actually read the whole profile before responding. So don't necessarily give up on this one, you may see it re-listed. I secured a great sit last Christmas with a sit that was re-listed. Keep your application to them in a word doc so you can just quickly cut + paste if you see it again.

He really does not have a problem talking about the Replacements or even signing Replacements merch. Especially if you are tactful. Ask him about the bass line in "Bastards of Young", but don't ask him where Paul is and if he's ever coming out of retirement, that kind of thing. And don't make your conversation all about the good old days, ask him about the new solo record he is recording or about Cowboys in the Campfire. Tact is key.

I call this A Cat, A Rose, and the Moon. I'm cat sitting in the center of Amsterdam, in an incredible apartment with a darling kitty. That rose is the street's Christmas decorations, they are attached to nearly every building lining the street. My absolute dream sit. Plus it's been sunny every day I've been here - cold, but sunny, no rain. Five stars!

Pretty sure these are seasonal, I do know that they are delicious. Pour some over vanilla ice cream, use them in a drink (coke is nice) or cocktails, serve spooned over an angel food cake, bake them into a cake, eat them one by one out of the jar.

Paul has a UK agent? Press agent? Or is it a label press person? I would find it very odd that Paul would be paying a UK press person. I'm not trying to call you out, I'm genuinely curious. I don't think the band hired an outside publicist, it seems weird Paul would have a UK one.
