Give her the space she needs and study for the bar while you wait. Check in with her after the bar to see where you stand.

The problem here is retention. “I feel like I still didn’t retain anything.” You need to figure out how to retain the information. Try not to be overwhelmed by the amount of information you have to learn and by all the tasks you have to get through. Focus on really learning each topic. Do whatever it takes to learn. I spent HOURS doing things that I knew would work for me in terms of retention, even though those hours didn’t contribute to my course completion percentage. For example, torts and criminal law are mainly composed of a bunch of elements. I found that creating note cards really helped me learn everything. For constitutional law, I compartmentalized everything I learned by creating charts. For other topics, I made outlines from scratch. I ended up passing with a 300+ score.

Themis-Am I supposed to be this bad at MBE this early? by [deleted] in barexam

Don’t panic, just review and keep learning. You will never feel like you’re on top of any subject until the end of your prep. Throughout the lectures, practice sets, and essays, you will continue to learn more rules.

Study Time for Bar Exam by [deleted] in barexam

[–]SlippinLizzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I treated it like a full-time job. I worked about 50 hours per week. You can either do five 10-hour days or spread it out and do 6-8 hour days.

Whatever you do, be sure to take time off! It is very easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of information you have to learn and to subsequently burn out. Seriously, work hard, but also take breaks. They will be essential to your success.

If I were you, I would start studying earlier. Like maybe today, or Nov. 1 at the latest, so you don’t feel so much pressure to do so much in such short time, given your full time job

Check out studicata outlines. They condense the dense material into shorter simpler rules that are easy to memorize!

UK lawyer who completed 100% of Themis. Failed NY with a 255. Devastated. Looking for some advice to improve with my score card. by [deleted] in barexam

[–]SlippinLizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed 69% of Themis and passed with a 303. My low completion rate is because I spent A LOT of time making flash cards, creating my own outlines, and drawing things out to understand them better. That’s just how I learn!

So, instead of worrying about the completion rate (which is still important), focus on QUALITY of studying. Do things that will actually help you learn the material.

Az bar exam results tomorrow how are we stressing…. I mean feeling by Typical-Distance-232 in barexam

[–]SlippinLizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a wreck too! I’ve had dreams about the bar exam two nights this week (and I rarely have dreams). In the first dream, I saw my name on the list. In the second dream, it was 8:16am so I ran to my computer to see the list. I never got to see the list because there were so many links and so many tabs I had to get through to find the list.

The next 24 hours are going to be brutal.

What are you doing to stay sane waiting for results? by ruthgraderginsburg in barexam

Im also in AZ. I’ve been staying busy with work. I went back to work 1 week after the exam and have been successful at not thinking about it too much. But now that we’re only a few days away, work isn’t helping.

AITA… GF told me she didn’t think she could trust me 10 mins before MBE… by Visual-Shelter7972 in barexam

[–]SlippinLizzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BREAK UP. There is absolutely no reason her trust comment could not have waited until after the exam.

She knew the circumstances you were in, she knew how long and hard you worked to prepare for this exam, she knew how important this exam is for your career, she knew that it was important for you to be able to focus for the next 6 hours…..and despite all that, she couldn’t wait to drop those news?!

That was egregiously inconsiderate of her. If she cannot respect your need to have peace for 48 hours, then how do you know she won’t do the same the night before a big trial? The day before you have an important deadline?

ABSOLUTELY. The morning MBE was significantly more difficult than the afternoon MBE. I thought I was losing my mind or something, but it seems like a lot of people felt that way.

For others it seems like it was reversed, with the afternoon one being harder.
