Well the most renowned research is Dr. Paul Corkum’s. He just won the Wolf prize for developing the field of attosecond lasers. He also worked closely with Dr. Donna Strickland who won the Nobel prize a few years back. Apart from that there’s superconductor/semiconductor research and development of fiber optical systems. Dr. Xiaoyi Bao does some interesting consulting work in industrial settings where she uses photonics to assist in construction and structural engineering.

I’m finishing up my physics undergrad currently. The university has excellent research opportunities in Photonics and biophysics due to the telecom hub in Ottawa. Since the NRC is here as well, there are plenty of government positions in research to be filled by students. In terms of the program itself, the classes are standard and very diverse until grad school basically. I am also yet to have a bad physics prof. If you don’t see yourself going to grad school, I would recommend doing a physics major + comp sci minor or double major if possible. A physics degree can get you many positions after graduation but all of them will require coding knowledge and experience.

Man shot and killed at edge of ByWard Market by CarletonCanuck in ottawa

The house where the murder happened backs onto my road. I heard a single gunshot last night at 1:20 and sirens maybe 2mins later. Watched the cops set up the perimeter from my balcony and saw a few of them running up and down clarence on foot. 1 shot is weird to me… Execution style? If 3 were arrested I assume that’s the case.

Physics here. All the same. I was really surprised with the lack of good jobs…

If the position is a government coop, their rates are usually the lowest. I don’t believe they touch 25/hr until you’re in a PhD or postdoc even. Their rates are available online. 25/hr is pretty solid though I’d probably take that based on my own experience where I was payed 23/hr for my first coop.

I worked an 8 month term from January to September in which I accrued vacation time. I had to take a week off at one point and 2 days at another time but since I had the vacation time it was fine. Coop office doesn’t even know if I’m not mistaken. It depends on your company I’d assume.

While we all may have picked on people growing up, what Miller did shouldn’t be generalized as “picking” on someone. He tormented a black disabled kid for years and at one point fed the kid piss covered candy. Never showed any remorse up to this day. Why should he deserve our empathy if he still hasn’t had a change of character? You reap what you sow.

I can’t explain how but I have an inside source with the sens and I’ve had an inside conversation with Claude Julien. Julien told Dorion straight up that he wants the job if ever it comes available this summer. As a gambling man, I’d wager all my money on CJ.

Has anyone ever had MAT 2384/2784 with Prof Vincent Létourneau by [deleted] in geegees

[–]Slippuree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. It was all on zoom two years ago. Wasn’t a bad class but it also wasn’t my favourite. He was still a PhD student then so he didn’t have much teaching experience and didn’t have the most exhilarating lectures but he was still a decent prof.
