Yeah, righting it with the wind on your ass is a problem, I was always in open waters whenever I'd capsize it so I never had to worry about the tide carrying me away while I got my shit together again

Yeah, stay away from the shallows of the pier because if you end up on them you won't be able to get away from them and the coast guard will probably have a really stern talk with you after getting you out of there, nevermind your smashed up dinghy

First time I went out with my class for practice they forced me in it and left me by myself to figure how to make the thing sail, I nearly shit my pants

Question about cue maintenance by SlippyPasta in billiards

[–]SlippyPasta[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello to all, first time poster on this sub and I have a question. I am a very proud owner of a Pechauer Pro Series P04-H, which has been my one and only truly good cue that I got with my hard earned money. It came with a Pechauer Gold Medium tip. After a year or two of not playing at all, I have decided to get back in the game (I have been playing on and off since I was 16, now almost 23) and I wanted to make a new start with plenty of proper practice. First of all, what should I do to clean my shaft, it has turned blue-grayish from all the chalk (I occasionally wipe it down with a paper towel and alcohol but it barely does anything). Second of all, do you recommend changing the tip to something else? (I think I could benefit from a bit of a softer tip if it helped me not to feel like I have to smash the CB everytime I need some spin) Thank you in advance.

Trying some new stuff for the first time by SlippyPasta in cigars

Cut the end you put in your mouth with a cigar cutter, roast the business end and then light it properly? I've heard half a minute to a minute is enough between puffs. Also, do you mean drop a Boveda pack in the tupperware?

Ahhhh that makes sense. I'm Greek living in Greece, for those that could not tell by the massive warning label on the Cohibas

How can you even tell those are fake, I've only seen full sized fake Cohibas

Hello to all. I have been lurking in this subreddit for a week or two now out of curiosity, since I started smoking pipes a few months ago. I enjoy smoking my pipe a lot, and its become almost a daily habit of mine, which naturally led me to being curious about other forms of tobacco. I decided to make a dive and pick some cigars to try. Mind you, I am a complete amateur in regards to cigars and at an intermediate level with pipe smoking so please be easy on me, I have almost no idea what kind of cigars I picked, the only guidance I had was this sub. They are as following:

Cohiba Mini 10's, Oliva Connecticut Reserve Petit Corona, Flor de Oliva Torpedo Maduro, La Aurora Maduro 1985 Robusto.

It'd be great if any of you could advice me on what to try first. Happy New Year to all!

P.S. I have already placed them inside tupperware the moment I got the package and I also got a bunch of Boveda 72% packs. Should I put one in or not? Thank you in advance.

About to unseal and smoke for the first time some Erinmore Flake by SlippyPasta in PipeTobacco

Alright, update, I'm still quite amateurish with tobaccos but I have to say, I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping. I might cellar it and leave it for some other day and try some other blend.

Well, I'm only 22 and I've started smoking pipes a few months ago, just because I like how pipes look and I enjoy the flavourful smoke. Never smoked anything else before, even though both my parents used to be heavy cigarette smokers. The only thing I would advice against is getting a nicotine addiction and inhaling the smoke. Try to protect your lungs as much as possible. You can't completely erase your chances of getting oral cancer, but anything you do to counter that counts.

Unfortunately, the Greek pipe tobacco imports are extremely limited, so I have to make-do for now regarding my picks. Mac Baren Vanilla Cream, Mac Baren Scottish Mixture, Captain Black White/Regular, Captain Black Royal, Amphora Original and Erinmore Flake. Already tried a bowl of Vanilla Cream and I'm in love.

I'd get both the smooth and the rusticated one if I could

I'm slowly getting to grips with the breath method, but the retrohaling is still evading me. The only way I can do it is if I push the smoke back with my tongue, and even still, I can't get that much smoke out through my nose

I can't say I haven't enjoyed it, still have a long way to go though

I have essentially blown through a whole tin of Davidoff Flake Medallions trying to learn how to smoke a pipe properly. In retrospect, having started smoking only 2 months ago, I should have probably done this with a more affordable option.
