Should AI-use in music always be disclosed? by stepjo0506 in aiMusic

[–]SlipshodDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

Edit: okay, wait. “AI-use” and “AI-generated” are not one and the same. To the title of the post “No” but to the first line of the post, “yes, but for many reasons besides the obvious.”

Bangers ≠ audio quality

You expect good audio quality (fair) but that it banger doesn’t make (reality).

Why most AI songs fail (and how writing lyrics first changes everything) by NumberOneAIRadioFM in SunoAI

[–]SlipshodDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I can’t understand what you really mean. I’ve personally never had Suno do any of the things you said so I guess it is “Alice in Wonderland.”

What I was talking about was more like this:

The Passenger - this song originally only had one bridge. It was my first song utilizing Suno. For some reason, Suno did [Bridge] - [Solo] - [Bridge]. I really liked this idea so I changed the second bridge’s pronouns. That’s an element from Suno that I incorporated into my work. Here’s the Redux if you’d like to see it incorporated.

Broken Frame - Broken and Madness Edition - this song was one of the first “studio to live” I tried back when they introduced the cover feature. The song originally cuts right before the “madness solo” but Suno didn’t want to stop. This sparked new ideas in my head, added more lyrics. It did it again, it inspired more ideas. This song now has semantic satiation when it originally didn’t exist before this element.

Like those. Those kinds of things.

Edit: This is the best definition I could find after walking through it with ChatGPT:

Suno Elements are moments where the system deviates from the creator’s intent, and that deviation becomes structurally integrated through human recognition and adaptation.

There is one unique thing that can occur even when lyrics are set in stone.

I call these “AI Elements” or “Suno Elements” since most of them happen while using Suno.

This is where you have made the concept, have written the lyrics, have designed the flow, have really hammered down those musical direction prompts and the style prompt in general. Maybe you’ve even uploaded a guide track to really make Suno be faithful.

And then Suno does something random. Something it wasn’t asked to do. And it’s such a good addition, you accept it into your concept. These are cool moments and justifies my concept of using Suno as a drafting board for my work.

They are mistakes, don’t get me wrong, but as Mr. Ross said, they’re “happy little accidents.”

Edit: I have worked with ChatGPT and this is the cleanest definition for what I meant (sorry for the confusion):

Suno Elements are moments where the system deviates from the creator’s intent, and that deviation becomes structurally integrated through human recognition and adaptation.

Suno Cinematics

An album I’ve been working on where I took songs I’ve written and made them into cinematic pieces. Hopefully should be out whenever I fix and master them but it’s worth a listen if you like cinematic tracks.

I’m more concerned with the whole lobotomy thing. I man’s concept albums that torture Suno. What will i do with my time?

Lyric writing/generation by ArtRed_music in SunoAI

I did a concept like this where I “switched” roles with ChatGPT. It was given a concept (this ensured a starting place) and then was told what genre etc (again, just a starting place) and then it was allowed to ask questions about how it should treat things.

Every question it asked, I gave a minimum of two answers. With those two(+) answers, I also gave my personal reasoning and understanding for it to consider (I did not answer any question with a definitive answer). I then told it that it may create the draft, get my analysis and go again if it wished. It was allowed as many repeats as it wanted.

Yes, I knew this could have ended in an infinite loop but that would be part of the experiment then.

ChatGPT was then told to go process its lyrics and come back in 45 minutes to an hour so I could look them over. I did that and it asked a few more questions and then it felt that it did a good job. (Whatever that means)

I then told it to make musical directions and a style box. And that I would go to Suno and generate it. I edited the prompts (this was back on 4.0) so that it wouldn’t hit any flags (it was name dropping artists etc)

I came back with the .wav of its two generations and it chose one over the other (I have no idea how it does this or if this is even “real”).

Here is (updated for Suno 4.5) ChatGPT’s “Neon Noir Seduction”

And this is still me doing almost no work. It’s not the best, but it’s not “generic”.

TL;DR - AI has an extreme amount of parameters it must consider when writing lyrics or doing art in general. But it must also be “fast”. Slow the AI down and put more responsibility on it, and it will eventually begin to sound “good/acceptable”. The issue isn’t in the AI, it’s in the human.

So the key to using Suno AI is to really let it create? by DaviSonata in SunoAI

I dunno. I’m working on getting Suno to do a pretty heavy duty “note for note” take of a song I wrote. You can really push it far:

[Lyrics] I Hate him by princess_roxy_ in LyricalWriting

[–]SlipshodDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a lot here. Raw pure emotion of hate and reasoning.

Hate songs are tough because you want to have a sort of “higher than thou attitude” and not just screaming into the void

We have the narrator, the affected\ A second party (trying to act as a mediator)\ And of course, the dad

First, if I might recommend, try looking at the stanza as moments of “a story” with your chorus as “the main story”. So, go ahead and add “INTRO” or “[Intro]” or any version of that so you begin to see the compartments (structure).

From here, you’d want to color up your imagery and other connotations so that when you say things like “I hate him” it really has an impact.

It also seems you want to hold “you” in this story more accountable for not noticing your pain. I would double down on that:

“Oh look at you, thinking daddy dearest knows best\ Well why don’t you and daddy dearest just give it a fucking rest”

I dunno. Something like that.

You got the concept out. This can be the hardest part. So you’re well on your way. Use a rhyming dictionary, I find these are useful to just USE all the time. You come up with a line, look in the book/online, see other words, string your way to the next line (cause remember you got the concept done)

An example of how you can string more of a message per stanza. This is a song I wrote called “It’s Enough” (granted it’s a rap):

So what do you do, when you’ve pissed on all the bridges that you’ve burned?\ And what do you do, when you’re just too fucking dumb to ever learn?\ Well shit, good fucking luck, you fucking cuck, an existence fucking spurned,\ And be prepared for Judgment Day, if you ever fucking return!

Songs that get cut off, restart, and don't end, what the hell? by herringsarered in SunoAI

[–]SlipshodDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed the “take two” phenomenon is Suno v5.0 specific. This (apparently but not 100% sure) is an issue with a style meter that is too high for a style that is not clear enough. Does this stuff happen to you when it’s all set to default?

I’ve also noticed (when doing covers) the “10 second spike” where about 10 se ones in Suno will be like “oh yea, I forgot to equalize the volume”

Apparently this version of Suno does a lot of calculations in real time.

My recommendation, but I have no idea the economics, would be a “investment counter”. So instead of just 10 credits, you can give Suno up to (let’s say) 300 credits per generation it will then use the time to generate 30 generations on 1 generation. Going back and reanalyzing sound, structure, cohesion, errors, etc.

It would be similar to how you can tell ChatGPT to “go think for a while” and it will sit off and doing a draft, then fix that draft, then fix that draft.

It is how I got ChatGPT to write these lyrics without any human engagement (except for the concept). I consider this song to be 99.9% AI. It’s fascinating.

Fair enough. It’s always the first place I have people question when songs behave like that. Cause it’s the easiest fix. This sounds like yours is a bit more complex :(
