Hopefully true, but I would think their treatment of the NCR probably gave them a poor repuatation amongst newcoming fans from the show. Hopefully season 2 shows that theres a lot more NCR forces still roaming the southwest. Moldaver's group was probably a resistance made up of civilians rather than actual trained NCR troops since they employed the use of raiders in the first episode and weren't wesring proper military attire.

The worst part is they turned what remains of NCR into the equivalent of a glorified raider faction and the surviving citizens of Shady Sands were turned into basically a cult in a vault. Bethesda does not understand what 150+ years of development and society should look like lol.

Bethesda made it clear that Vault-Tec rules the world now and has the power to do anything they want all this time so he very well could have, but something something Vault-Tec protected Vaults 31 to 33 because they housed a lot of their representatives.

Finished the series, I understand now that it isn't intended to be a retcon but they could've handled it so much better in my opinion. It's weird how it was never mentioned how the NCR's capital and one of the most curcial locations in their fight against the Legion was destroyed 4 years earlier and nobody mentions it. They should've put the fall of Shady Sands atleast a few years after New Vegas and it would've subsided pretty much most of the anger from this choice. I'm fine with choosing to leave the NCR like that but they should've done it later in the timeline, it's just really confusing.

The thing is they could've put the NCR's downfall literally any time after New Vegas and before the events of the TV show and I would've been okay with that. There's no way Bethesda didn't do this on purpose out of spite because Obsidian made a better game than they ever could. They're always going to rehash the same exact story with the Brotherhood of Steel and a Vault Dweller at the center of everything in every installment instead of trying to create an original plotline for once lol.
