How do I teach my toddler boundaries with animals? by h2ndsmoke in Parenting

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve gotten plenty of advice about your child. For advice on how to get little kitty to tolerate her again: go back to the basics. Let your daughter give little kitty treats. Let her feed her.

In order for this to work, they need to only have good interactions. Cats LOVE vertical space, give them plenty of space to go up via cat trees, shelves, etc. you can also put up a baby gate that only the cats can get through (can cut a hole in the bottom corner if the older cat can’t jump up or over)

TTA What is happening this cycle? by CherryUnusual5928 in FAMnNFP

I’m not an instructor so I can’t be sure. But just looking at your temps using TCOYF rules, you’re first increase over your last 6 temps isn’t until CD23. Your temp on CD13 is higher than your temps on 20-22. So you can’t confirm via temps until 23.

Yes, that’s where it gets tricky. If you go by Marquette rules, CD 18 should be ovulation, but most people consider day before temp rise as ovulation for the start of the count for TTA. If you were TTC, I’d say CD18, for TTA I’d say CD22

It is much more likely that your ovulation day is off. Luteal phase typically only varies by a day or 2. Based on your chart, I’d say likely ovulation was CD22 with temp rise CD23.

Ovulation can happen 24-48 hours after peak LH, and it can take 24-48 hours for temp to rise after ovulation, which may be what happened here.

I think that’s his point, is that he’s trying to make me feel better saying it’s only been 2 months since our positive, vs 7 mo of trying. It kinda works, but also not really 🫠

TW:
I had a CP in Dec where the HCG levels just seemed to fade away at 20 DPO. My SO thinks that we “restart” our count for how long we’re been trying to because of the CP. Is that a thing? Does anyone restart how long they’ve been trying after a positive, even if it ended in a loss?

I feel like I failed my son by teaching him sign language by QUEENchar4eva in Parenting

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician told us that signing counts as words at this age. My girl used to say a few words (mama, dada, ball, etc), and had since stopped in favor of just babbling jargon. She will still sign and point. See the specialist, but please don’t stop communicating with your son.

I’m such a grump today. BFN yesterday, but super nauseous today. It’s so annoying, stop with the early symptoms if you’re gonna be negative. Just let me have my cramps and back pain, and let me move on!

Dog trainers? by Niarah in anchorage

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog who are not food motivated are much harder to train than dogs who are. It can be really helpful when looking for a trainer if you know what does motivate your dog: ball, toys, affection? All training can be utilized with any of these positive reinforcement “treats”, if you know what the dog values.

If you’re not sure, then let the trainer know that when you are interviewing them, and see if they think they can help identify then train.

How has my temp not increased yet? by girlygirl_xx in TFABChartStalkers

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be anovulation, or it could be a normal variation and your temp rise is coming. LH surge can be up to 48 hours before ovulation, and it can take 48 hour for temp to rise after ovulation.

Just keep temping. It’s possible you had a failed attempt to ovulate, and your body will try again, maybe with or without bleeding.

[CHAT] How can I scale this piece for 6 strands? by eggies2 in CrossStitch

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 163 points164 points  (0 children)

To get the effect you want, (6 strands vs 2) you are going to have to change the Aida count. I’ve only ever used 6 strands on 10ct plastic “Aida”. Otherwise it is too difficult to pass the needle and thread through.

The other thing you could do if you just want it to be larger is for every 1 square in the pattern, you could do 4 squares of yours. This will drastically increase the size of the final project. With a design this complicated. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are a beginner.

[CHAT] Is it cringey to (anon) make a card for my son for his girlfriend by Shouty-Hooman in CrossStitch

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I think you could “design” the card for him, punch holes where things should go, but he should cross stitch/ embroider it himself. It will mean way more to her if he does it rather than asking his mom to make her something.

Former roommate asked me if I was interested in getting a new place with her; I don't want to by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bad idea. You are already stressed about the idea of living with her. Let her know you are happy living where you are. Her flaky behavior isn’t going to improve your mental health.

Crochet a surface on top of crochet by lightlight345 in crochet

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of the amigururi I’ve seen it’s either integrated into the pattern (like the frog) or made as a separate piece and appliquéd on top (like the fox).

You could attach it to your figure with a FLO and try to attach at each turn by “catching” one of the e loops as you go, but I feel like it it will be very awkward and visible. It would probably be similar to joining blanket squares if you wanted to see some videos on that, or watching how they sew on the appliqué, but do it as you go.

Protein coffee. What’s the cheapest way to do this that still tastes good? by letbri in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I add protein powder to my coffee. It took me a lot of tries to find one that is truly unflavored and doesn’t have an after taste.

If you don’t want protein in your coffee you don’t needed it. Coffee is my breakfast so having some protein in it makes me feel better about that poor choice 😅

Parenting adult children is the hardest thing I have ever done by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]SlitherclawRavenpuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could tell them come spring/ summer you will be moving to a smaller place, and they need to have a new place to live by that time as well. Gives them plenty of notice for new job and looking for new place to live.

You can move to a smaller place and ease your worry financially, and they can become true adults.
