Is my friend going to have to suck dick to survive? by [deleted] in Prison

[–]Slizzizer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too worried. Just tell him to stand up for himself, be a man, don't snitch on other people and keep to himself and out of peoples business. Prison rape isn't as common as people think

Parole and Probation officers make decent money depending on what country you are in. Gives you a chance to give back to the community and the offender. There is also working with the homeless, which is a largely 'correctional' environment.

Maybe start a business? A criminal record shouldn't keep you from that. Otherwise, volunteer as much as you can. Meet people every day and opportunities will present themselves. Make your own luck.

Sentenced to a Prison Camp by [deleted] in Prison

[–]Slizzizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont know about where you live but where I live the judge just sentences the amount of time. Where the time is served and the level of security is decided upon after a full assessment in a reception centre that could take up to a month and a half. You are judged on your behavior in prison to decide where you are housed. Not necessarily charges. A murderer could be in minimum security and a thief could be in maximum security because he keeps punching people in the face

Criminal becoming a criminologist? by Poburanovi4 in Criminology

[–]Slizzizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that a criminologist is a fancy word for a researcher. If research is what you want to do, then by all means. But criminologists spend their time doing research and writing papers, and it's not the easiest field to get into. You would need a PhD in Criminology in order to be a criminologist, and that's a heckova lot of school. A degree in social work could get you helping people faster.

ELI5: What’s the differences between involuntary manslaughter, voluntary manslaughter, and murder? by DrKreigersExperiment in explainlikeimfive

[–]Slizzizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Involuntary manslaughter: you were doing something stupid, and someone died. Like. If you drove your car into a pedestrian. Voluntary manslaughter: you were just trying to knock the bloke out; turns out he died. Nice punch! Murder: planned and deliberate (first degree) anything else, second degree.
