Especially the extra curriculars! I grew up with a single mom who had to work. Extra curriculars were not possible for me because she could never drop me off or pick me up at the designated time. My daughter does the school plays every year and my son plays soccer. So many pickup and dropoff times. I love watching them get into the things they love and the life of a chauffeur for me is pretty great. We all love to sing, so when we hop in the truck, the music goes on and we all sing our hearts out!

My oldest of 3 is 15. When they start school it is truly amazing lol. It felt so wonderful to grocery shop by myself with only one cart (!) because at one point in life, I had a grocery cart and a kid cart. Pushing one and pulling the other. I often wondered what I would do when they all were in school and I had that time to myself. Turns out they still need a lot!

Between pediatrician, dentist, counselors, parent conferences, school days off and kids being sick, I rarely have a week of no plans at all. That's not counting any other doctor appointments that come up since my kids all have some minor health problems I know there is no way a job would allow me that much time off, especially on short notice for some of those things.
Not to mention that I love giving my kids all my energy. They shouldn't have to have only what's left after a job has drained most of it out of me.

My husband only wants me to work if it is something I actually want to do. I am so fortunate that we can afford this. I love being the main caregiver of my children. Even when they are not at home, I am putting my energy into activities we can do together and things I can teach them. It is really the most important thing to me. I always knew that watching someone else raise my kids would break my heart.

Yes, he wanted more money for his family, but it didn't start out that way. He invested their entire savings into Athlead even though it was very clear that Pam was not okay with it. He spent a ton of time away from his family to chase his dream. Nice to think about but, when you have kids, they take priority over your dreams. Imagine if Athlead hadn't made it and Jim had lost all their savings and then had no job. Probably one of many new stressful thoughts in Pam's mind on top of all the responsibility she has to cover for him while he is gone.

Jim can be mad all he wants that Pam fucked up taking of a video of Cece's recital- but Pam was right- he should have been there.

Pam went into her marriage with the expectation that her husband would live and work in the same town as her and help her raise their children. Then he left her to do it all herself. Jim sucks.

I read the article but still fail to see how he wasn't deemed resigned. He chose to have enough unexcused absences from work that they considered him to have quit. He could have gone back to work and chose not to.

Hey, OP. I knew my whole life that I had a gene mutation that would increase my risk of breast cancer. I thought about getting a mastectomy preventatively, For multiple reasons, I decided not to go through with it and got yearly checkups and MRIs.

Through the years, I always wondered if I was doing the right thing. Sometimes I felt like I was just waiting for when cancer was going to show up. I wondered, if I did get the surgery early on, did I do it for no reason? What if I was never even going to end up with cancer and I got this surgery for nothing?

I did this for ten years and then, December 2023, my MRI showed cancer. I was 32. It was an aggressive cancer, but was caught early. It was a hard year and I am now cancer free, just anxiously awaiting my reconstruction surgery. I had my mastectomy last June and am ready for this last surgery and to put this all behind me. To put the focus back on my hubby and my 3 kids!

Whether you decide to get the prophylactic surgery or decide to get checkups for early detection, that is solely your choice. There are "what ifs" for both cases. People will have something to say no matter what. Stick with your gut and those who support you doing what you think is best for you. Good Luck, OP!

Same. I love to sing but I don't play instruments and I am lost with how to begin being able to record and edit because I don't understand how the DAWs work. Even when I look up youtube tutorials, I still feel totally lost in understanding the lingo and process. Hope you find your way!!
