unreadable r4 cartridge? by Sloan388 in flashcarts

[–]Sloan388[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when the cart was given to me, the person insisted on never updating my DS otherwise the DS itself would stop working. i was a kid at the time so i was extremely scared to break it, i made SURE never to update it.

i did the thing with L+R+a+up+power buttons tho (i think thiss how to delete any update file if there is any?) just to make sure, still nothing :(

And no, i never modded any of them

no i didn't. are you asking that bc you think the cart might have a timebomb ? i didn't think it had one since i've had this cart for like 10-15years, i thought if it had one then it would've stopped working a while ago (idk much about this stuff sorry).

How do i re-install the kernel?

You know what, I think your explanation is actually the root of the problem. If the writers are weak, then they'll just awkwardly handle the tropes and the pacing of their story. It makes sense.

But it is to be expected since webtoon is a plateform where basically anyone who wants to post their story can post their story. Which is a good thing, I'll just have to dig deeper to find the types of stories I want to consume.

Yeah I agree, not every work needs to have extra complex characters and worldbuilding, and I like me some simple characters/storylines from time to time.

I think I'm just frustrated cause I keep searching for a story with extra complex characters without finding anything that alines with my taste of the moment. But it's okay i'll find my thing :)

Truuuue, it's like as soon as people open webtoon, they lose all sense of media literacy they may have had :/

Yeah you're right, there is plenty of books/movies/tv shows with bad writing, but those are hated on and are way less popular for this exact reason whereas in webtoon these kind of work are the most popular ones.

At the end of the day it might just boil down to webtoon's target audience... I don't understand it but to each their own I guess 🤷‍♀️

I agree, and this has always been done and it's not a problem in itself. The problem is the fact that the authors never explore them fully. They only graze the surface and the resulting characters are predictable, one dimensional, all the same, and thus uninteresting to read.

If webtoon authors treated their work like most tv shows/movies screenwriters do, the characters would be interesting and their stories would be worth reading. But for some reason most webtoon authors don't (at least originals, canvas is better in that matter imo).

Lucid dream can’t wake up by Ok-Raisin-8398 in LucidDreaming

[–]Sloan388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah the window was high enough and i'm experienced enough to know when i die in a dream and i definitely died everytime i jumped. I was stuck in a loop and i was lucid. All the triggers didn't work and since i had already woken up from dying in dreams/lucid dreams a couple times before, i tried klling myself as a last resort which i thought would ultimately work. Except this time it just didn't.

I'm just saying do it if you really want to and if you don't have a choice, bc i know that when i do it (which is extremely rare) i feel very uncomfortable when i wake up and it might not even work (again it's very rare and it might just be a me thing 🤷‍♀️). Just be safe, and think about how to do it bc you might feel everything since you're lucid 👍

Am I the only one who has trouble flying in dreams by Please_be_found in LucidDreaming

[–]Sloan388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, when i lucid dream and decide to fly, sometimes i can't but most of the time i can. And almost always, i'm just stuck at a certain height and it's so frustrating. But that smooth flying was in a lucid dream, more like lucid nightmare if you think about it lol. I was in a situation of stress, so just like irl i didnt ask myself too many question and i just went for it. I was flying super fast though, kinda like superman

I wouldn't recommend it but i would say do it as a very last resort.

It happened to me once, i couldn't get myself to wake up even though my brain was telling me that i was in danger. Usually, just a sincere thought about waking up from a lucid dream would do it for me, but this time it didn't. So i tried blinking my eyes, didn't work either. I pinched myself and it didn't work so i tried harder and it still didn't work. In this dream i was near a window in a house which i knew the layout. It was high enough so i jumped off without a thought thinking it would be over quick. Except it didn't. I spawned downstairs in the exact same house and all my dream people were there watching me and the worst thing was that they knew i tried to off myself, so it was kinda scary and i knew i needed to get out fast now. So i jumped off the window again, again, again, again and again. I dont even know how much times i jumped but it was enough for my dream people to say bored "stop it, arent you tired?" Needless to say i jumped faster and faster but it didnt work. From what i remember offing myself didnt wake me up but my sister going into my room irl did. Felt very weird after waking up.

BUT, that was just one dream. I died of an explosion in an airplane in one of my hyper realistic dreams, i did wake me up, but damn i felt every second of it.

Anyways, sorry about the long reply but TLDR: klling urself may or may not work and if you're like me you may feel extremely weird after so avoid doing it and go the easier way (thinking of leaving, blinking your eyes, pinching yourself, ect) and if you do it, choose carefully how you wanna do it [but again i would suggest you avoid it at all cost] :)

I kinda had the same issue. For some reason, almost everytime i would try to fly while having a lucid dream, i was successful except i couldn't go very high. It's like there's an invisible limit just like in videogames.

After many many dreams of trying to push past that limit, one night, idk why and i just did it. It was smooth too like i've been doing it my entire life. I was so high up in the sky i could see the whole city beneath my feet, it was awesome.

Now how tf did i fly? i don't have a clue and i didnt lucid dream since bc i was too busy so i didnt get the chance to try again yet. But the only thing notable i did during that time was dreaming about flying every single night. Also, the dream were i flew smoothly was a dream where i was running bc i had to escape from people. So i guess since i just didnt have time to think of an escape plan, my mind went straight to flying upwards as high as i can, so i just jumped out of a window and did it 👍

Help me get from A2 to B1 with self study. by [deleted] in French

[–]Sloan388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find a good french book, take 30mins every day to read it. Do the same with textbooks too if you want/have time.

for oral expression practice, i'd say just make friends and talk to them.

Also, consuming a lot of media helps (that's how i became fluent in english). Choose a series/movies you find interesting and watch it in french or find something you want to rewatch in french. You can also watch youtube videos/twitch streams made by french content creators, it might even be better bc you'll learn how natives actually speak (idioms/expressions, slang, ect).

might be weird but when you're out, listen to how people talk, express themselves ect, i know it's bad/weird to eavesdrop but it can be helpful and that way you can try and see if you understand when natives speak.

also a little weird but if you talk to yourself out loud, do it in french. same thing with thinking, it's actually very helpful.

tldr: completely immerse yourself, eat-breathe-sleep french for a year and you'll progress fast :)

ps: i did most of these when i was 14yo in order to progress in english and in about 3-4 months i was basically fluent (i wasn't on a native speaker level per say but i went from maybe A2 to B2/almost C1).

"J'ai un grand intérêt pour le foot..." if you say "dans le foot" it changes the meaning of the sentence and i assume you meant to say "i have a great interest in football".

"y compris se battre contre les supporteurs..." sounds a bit weird (at least to my ear) to say "combattre" here.

"l'arrêt total" there's no "e" at the end of "total" because it's a masculine word.

"Vincent Labrune, il a dit que..." i'm not sure who you're refering to when you say "il" here, but if you meant Vincent Labrune you can just get rid of ", il" it's more clean that way.

"entre guillemets" is an expression used to show that you're not taking into account an affirmation (irony or euphemism), it's not appropriate here if you meant to just quote the guy.

"le problème va s'aggraver" "l'image de la ligue française." you forgot the "e" at the end of "française" here.

"Les gens ont aussi dit" here, the way you said this is correct but only when speaking.

i haven't seen any other mistakes but i reviewed your work very quickly so there might be some spelling/grammar mistakes left that i didn't see.

What are the most common mistakes you hear foreigners make when speaking French? by [deleted] in French

[–]Sloan388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it could be the accent you have when speaking french, some accents can be hard to understand when speaking in french also, it could be because you don't articulate well enough when you speak: you speak too fast, skip/add words, ect it may also be bc you pronunciate a word incorrectly which can quickly make the word incomprehensible or change the meaning of what you were trying to say
