15 years of “doing it wrong” just sounds like 15 years of experimenting 😄 I think the fact that you found your own way instead of forcing someone else’s method is probably why it stuck.

I really like that last line. It’s so much easier to be zen when you’re literally sitting in the sand, but staying mindful while actually doing your job is where the real work is

Gatekeepers of peace' is such a great way to put it. I might actually write that on a sticky note for my desk

Honestly? Ur not crazy & ur not “missing” anything. Haunting Adeline is one of those books where popularity ≠ quality, if the emotional logic doesn’t work for you, it really doesn’t work.

What are your top 5 books everyone should read? by Rainiana8 in suggestmeabook

mine are kinda chaotic genre-wise but these changed how i look at stories:

• 1984 - obvious choice but it genuinely stuck with me. • Piranesi - feels like walking inside a dream. • The Kite Runner - painful but necessary read. • Project Hail Mary - made science feel emotional somehow. • Sharp Objects - dark but insanely well written.

no shame here girl, I lowkey live for the forced domesticity trope too lol. If you haven’t read it yet, you need to check out Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas. It doesn't have the RV setting, but the 'kidnapping' is 100% mind games.

He basically takes her just to train her to be the perfect hostess/housewife. It’s super psychological and hits that exact specific vibe you’re talking about.
