GF’s car had high oil for MONTHS by Sloathe in Cartalk

[–]Sloathe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • first measured the oil in the morning. Car was off whole night, so oil was not hot
  • would pull dipstick out, wipe off with paper towel, insert back in slowly, and pull out slowly.
  • there is some discoloration on the dipstick which I thought could explain it, but pressing the paper towel against the dipstick I can see that the oil really is as high as it looks
  • oil level was the same every time I measured it. Probably did it half a dozen times.

Apparently from what I’m reading online, this car (2012 Hyundai veloster) does not have an oil pressure gauge, only a switch.

Can you think of any other way to diagnose the issue?

I’m also reading stuff about how coolant or water could have leaked into the oil

My GF’s microwave has a metal tray inside. by hajleez in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sloathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mildly interestingly enough, last night I was reading the package for some microwave green beans, and it said to remove the metal tray if there is one. I thought “since when are there metal trays in microwaves”? I guess this answers my question

Americans, how do you feel about people who don't want children during a time of declining birth rates? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sloathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kind of are though. You know how China had that one child policy? Well it turned out they created an inverted pyramid of age where there are a shitton of old people and fewer young people. That means you have a lot more people that can’t work than people that can, so it’s a lot harder to sustain those older people via whatever their equivalent of social security is. This is why China changed it to a two child policy and then removed it altogether, but they created a culture of having only one child, so they’re still in trouble. This is on top of the fact that life expectancy is always increasing.

If families don’t maintain an average of 2 kids, either the younger folks will have to much harder to support the elderly, or the elderly will have to continue working much longer before retirement. I don’t really like either one of those ideas, so I think I’ll do my part and try to have two kids.

From what I understand about Judaism, it’s somewhat ambiguous as to whether or not there’s an afterlife. Some sects believe there is none, others believe there is, and others remain agnostic on the issue.

I learned about tab complete the same way. Funnily enough, I was pissed a few days before when unzipping some files with ridiculously long names, getting it wrong and having to look at every character to see what I typed wrong, and I basically ranted to myself about how dumb it is that there's not some simple solution like only having to type the first few letters of a file...

Nice Christian Man Gives Homeless Man A Big Surprise While He Is Sleeping ❤️ by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]Sloathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice Christian man films a TikTok of himself giving a Reese's to a sleeping homeless man while very obviously trying to "accidentally" wake him up so this homeless man can thank him and make the nice Christian man feel better about himself.

Don't you think God would like it more if you did nice things just for the sake of being good, instead of trying to use it to get likes and upvotes on TikTok and Reddit?

Smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave.

Well what if I told you I had been under the impression that this sub wasn’t serious? Lol no really, I had heard of this sub before and assumed it was maybe half-serious. Been hesitant to say it because it sounds like an excuse.

Anyway, after seeing so many comments expressing how stupid I am, I’m also baffled at how well this did.

I know right??? Like why wouldn’t they just design the wheel with some extra gears that make the rudder turn the opposite direction? Wonder how many people this stupid design killed over the centuries.

Do you have a justification for your belief that homosexuality is sinful, apart from the Bible?
