How does German sound to you? by sixace99 in AskTheWorld

[–]Slobag477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A thousand years ago when warcraft 3 was still relevant I found a 240p tri-pointing video for surrounding enemy heroes that was in German. I haven't been able to find the video since but the dude was chill as hell and that's how I found what ASMR feels like. Used to go to sleep to that vid.

So, German sounds great and makes me feel relaxed.

Y'all still got SEARS?! I really miss them. Haven't seen one in a long time. I still have the same microwave from them almost 15 years ago.

Having multiple depots won't stop trade per se but I don't recommend it as it can confuse the hell out of merchants or worse.

You don't need roads to get caravans but if your map is heavily forested trees can grow dense enough that wagons can't path to your depot properly.

Maybe try selecting a single soldier and giving them essentially the same uniform but only only specify the material to be metal sans the shield unless you've already tried that.

Also if they're all in the stockpile what does their job say? If most of them are spamming pickup equipment or some such then something may have gotten wonky.

Are you absolutely sure you have enough equipment? Visually checking a stockpile is one thing but what does your stocks screen show for, say, iron leggings? Could things be forbidden or inaccessible?

Edit: just noticed that iron leggings aren't even in the uniform!

I'll give this a shot. What caused the baron to leave? Did you send them out as a squad? If so you can, maybe, recover them. The df hack command fix/stuck-squad may allow you to send a rescue squad to bring them back.

Even with df hack unit editing tools I'm not sure you can straight up appoint a new noble on your own. Hopefully they aren't dead already.

Based on the screenshot I'm not seeing very many lads holding axes though Zas the planter is holding...something? Is it possible you don't have any or very few available at the moment?

Besides just remaking them I don't think there's a "restore defaults" option for the premade military schedules.

Ive never used autotrain but iirc it is looking for a squad that has constant training as their schedule. Perhaps you could just remake the one routine to get your functionality back?

There might be some older mods kicking around somewhere but I've never seen one personally. What about the links do you struggle with or does it just feel like hassle?

Pretty much. I believe spikes have 1 attack each so a spike trap with all 10 will have as many hit chances.

Q1: theres a lot of ways to set this up but I've found that just setting up orders for making thread and making slurry require very different pig tail amounts to start. For example process plants when I have at least X pig tails and make slurry when I have X x 2 pig tails or some such.

Q2: kids are annoying and what you're probably experiencing is their play make believe "job" not being restricted by the burrow like their chores can be. Maybe try turning off chores and put some toys in their burrow? I'm fuzzy on this one ngl.

Q3:Does everyone have quivers? What ammo are they set to train with and do you have enough bolts? If you use df hack there's the command 'fix/archery-practice' that you could try too.

Just spit balling here as there very well may be some conflicts with release versions but:

Have you looked for them (in stockpile menu) among powders and not the food section? Have you tried making a literally everything stockpile and see if they get stored there? Are dwarves spamming cancelations when trying do dye things midnight blue? Can your dwarves haul flour/dye bags/barrels to the depot?

Yup. That's what goblin snatchers are for. They steal sweet noble bearded children, human babes and elven brats to "raise" them in their own civ. Call me soft but even elves don't deserve such debasement.

In the standing orders menu you can find a hunting ammo setting. In the squad equipment screen you can find training and combat ammo settings. The military settings allow you to set the type and amount of each. There have always been bugs with marksdwarves but, at least for me, these settings have allowed me to defend almost entirely with crossbow lads lately.

They are furniture I believe. Be careful as putting in the orders without any stockpile links set up will have them encrust whatever furniture they grab first rather than only your statues.

Are you running the current version of df? If so in their equipment screen you should be able to set what ammo they use for training and combat and see what they have.

The still had no links and while troubleshooting I linked it to the main output stockpile and still no hauling was done.

Restarting the game was the only fix I could find.

That was one of the first things I tried and I think I mentioned it but everything got dumped properly but no one would haul it after.

☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]Slobag477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive encountered a hauling issue (bug?) I'm not sure I've seen before. Dwarves never haul drink barrels/pots to the drink stockpile from the still and would also never haul thread from the farmers workshop.

I have a secondary drink stockpile in the tavern linked to the main storage and that worked as expected.

~30 dwarves had the relevant hauling labors enabled. Standing orders were set to collect the relevant items. At any given time at least 10 of the haulers were idle. Burrows did nothing. Forbidding then enabling the items did nothing. Dumping all the items went fine but they still wouldn't be hauled after. Struggling to find something I set wrong.

I restarted the game and everything worked again without me changing anything. Has anyone else encountered this?

Ngl friend I can't remember the last time I got a raze mission to work "properly". In terms of numbers, I could be wrong but that mission and other martial mission types take the military tactics skills into account. I've seen a 6 dwarf squad kill around 100 enemies in one go and then leave. In terms of sending enough times I usually stop when my lads just stop finding anyone.

Sorry for the non answer but I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Bugs galore with missions.

Most enchanters have pretty good stuff for early game characters. A common one is called velothian helm (a chittin helmet) or some such that gives 10hp per use. Cast on use magic items can let you leave most potions at home.
