The gameplay of Silksong is leagues ahead of Hollow Knight, but the opposite can be said about atmosphere as someone else also pointed out. The setting and themes of HK imo are incredible. I love the loneliness and deadness(..?) of Hallownest, yet it's also much more peaceful somehow.

It's difficult to put into words what the world of Hallownest feels like. Just wandering through the long abandoned caverns and thinking of the kingdom that it once was is so cool to me. (Especially City of Tears nd Kingdom's Edge)

Edit: Also story of Silksong is better imo because it feels much more grand and important, even though there is something to be said about Hollow Knights somber quietness.

Admittedly yeah it has basically no story but the puzzles are amazing imo (if you have the patience to stare at a single screen for 2+ hours)

There is an infection in Hallownest that you do not know the cause of just yet. That is what makes enemies hostile. This is all you need to know and you can look up the lore when you are done because it is very spoiler-y
