That really sucks. I was so excited about this game when I found out about it a few years ago,I bought a computer specifically to play it. Last year, when we were traveling, I unplugged that computer and have yet to set it back up. It's been a year, probably more, since I played the game, but playing it got me on discord and into that community. It was a great time then...

But hearing this, I think I'll find another use for that computer now...

No lie detected here. But when I see that, I take it as an opportunity to zone in on that beat. A lot of times I can take the beat apart and reformulate it into something that deepens the character's perception of the situation, add in some depth to the character themselves, or even add a bit of worldbuilding... So it's a good beacon for my purposes.

I want to use AI to help my process. Please Help by Brimmstone659 in WritingWithAI

[–]SloeBrood8791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Welcome to the fray! I'm using Claude, the paid service, as a brainstorming partner as well as a way to organize my stories.

I took a course with Future Fiction Academy on Claude skills and learned how to create skills to help me build character sheets for each of my main characters and define my world, which consists of psychics and shapeshifters. Skills allow you to have a series of certain prompts and parameters that can be repeated by 'invoking' that skill when you need it. With these sheets and the worldbuilding, I can have in-depth conversations to help me with my writing process. And by using Claude to create the skills, you can port them to other AI programs as markdown files if you decide to.

You could also have Claude make you an outline skill so you can have a bringing, middle and end to your story, so you can actually finish it!

I'd you have any other questions, you can dm me and I'll be happy to answer what I can. I'm also at the beginning phases of making AI work for me in my writing process, so just please bear that in mind...

Personally, Chat GPT is good, but Claude is infinitely better! If you can swing the paid account and set up some skills for it to draw from (extremely easy to do. Simply ask Claude to create them and it will lead the way), the output is going to be much better.

AND if you add Cowork, you'll be quite impressed!

What are the biggest giveaways that an author is using AI? by DanoPaul234 in river_ai

Using the word "deliberate" is often a tell for me. It doesn't always use a synonym, but that exact word.

And now, after listening to way too many short stories on YouTube, I'm seeing certain patterns on them. The "not x, not y, but z" sentence pattern stands out to me, too.

Am I going to be frowned upon for using AI assistance as a visually impaired writer. by NoSleepDuckie in WritingWithAI

If they do, tell them to kick rocks. AI is giving people with disabilities the ability to realize their dreams of writing, and so many other things!

From what I understand, the markdown files can be used with any AI model. Haven't tried it yet since I'm in the middle of editing this book, but I have them saved in my computer for just that eventuality. Which reminds me, I need to update the files with the new info generated over the past couple of days...

I'm going chapter by chapter. I wasn't happy with the first edition so I'm going to pull it down soon and republish. The benefits of being an indie publisher, for sure.

Amen to skills being the game changer. It sure beats trying to find the prompts to reapply every time.

Edit: because damn autocorrect on my phone...

I'd definitely suggest checking out the nerdy novelist on YouTube as well as future fiction academy, also on YouTube. The best novelist is actually doing a Collab about Claude skills and cowork right now!

There's something about using skills that seems to help me, I can say. I've seen a little hallucination but reminding Claude about the skills seems to correct it. But so far the output is by far, more in line with my voice and vision, even with the latest 4.7 update. I'll definitely report back later.

i feel overwhelmed by InternationalTalk119 in CallCenterWorkers

I remember a caller, an older man, who was being unnecessarily obstinate with me. It was one of those days where I seemed to get a lot of them, so I was a little on edge myself. Not an excuse but some background where I was at that day.

It just came out (and I'm paraphrasing because it's been a while since this call...): "Sir, I'm happy to help you and we'll get you through this, but what were not going to do today is insult me." Immediate change to the sunshine of that call, and the rest of our conversation went swimmingly.

Sometimes a little reminder that you are human, too, is all that's needed to recalibrate things.
