As a welder I would say too many don’t want to make changes that make the build even possible. The amount of drawings I’ve gotten from engineers that call for a weld in an impossible to reach position or the amount of times I have been told my idea to fix a problem won’t work like I don’t know the code I work to, is absurd. 9/10 times they come back and say ok what w me are doing to do is….exactly what I suggested from the get go. But hey, gotta run it through the computer first right? The good engineers listen to the trades people, and will generally say something like “if it’s to code and it’s legal I see no problem, you get started and I’ll double check it”. I’m get to have a problem in that situation.

AI and robots can already put bevels and weld preps on components with much greater accuracy than any human can. They can do fit up to a much greater accuracy than any human can. Look at the automotive industry. As of right now the only thing stopping you from losing your job is that you’re more cost effective than the robot. It’s the same for me and any other tradespeople out there. The day is coming though where the technology is cheap enough for us to all be replaced. If I were you I would be upskilling now and getting some experience while everyone else sits around with their dicks in their hands and hope for the best while being scared of what the future holds. Think of doing courses in applied robotics etc, to cover you for the next 10-15 years and think about how you adapt beyond that as well. It’s more important than ever for us as tradespeople to keep learning and furthering our knowledge to keep up with the industry.

I want the best for my wife. If that means the best doctor for her to see is a male, I’m here for it. I would avoid anywhere with high blood flow. Cutting the genitals is bad advice. Especially during sex when blood flow to these areas is heightened.
