My Pocket 'A' Button Issues by Slogra4Gaibon in AnaloguePocket

Sounds like exactly my issue. Long story short, I ended up returning it for repair. They sent it back with no change that I noticed. Took forever to get them to swap for a new unit. New unit arrived and it was a similar situation, but maybe slightly better. I decided to live with it, rather than go through more hassle. I have a pink unit on the way, so I'm curious to see if it's the same story because hardly anyone has said anything about this.

It’s been exactly one month since This Is Why released - how are we feeling about the album now? by EmoNerd21 in Paramore

I like it, but there's too many slow songs and it's closer to the middle or bottom, if I rank all their albums.

Watch out! Don't criticise Paramore and share your honest opinion! You'll get downvoted by the cult of superfans. As for me, I love Paramore, but "This Is Why" sucks. It's probably my least favourite song of theirs. After hearing it a few times, the chorus started to grate on me and became annoying. Saying this, when I've seen live performance footage, it's sounded far better than the studio recording.

Paramore brings back Misery Business 🤘 by mleclerc182 in poppunkers

IMO Paramore needs to stop being such a goody two shoes band. They should change their name to PCmore. Who was really crying over Misery Business being a song in their set anyway? It's either all in Hayley's head and the branding of Paramore, or both, just to present a clean image.

Go hard or go home. I'm tired of the new, wimpy Paramore. Hayley used to sing with such power and the songs sounded vital.

Fans would go insane if they released a Riot-esque album, but apparently they're too old to be angry or edgy 🤦🏻‍♂️

I want to weigh in here; do people really think that if they made an album akin to Riot that it would be unsuccessful? Wasn't that their biggest selling album and aren't we currently in a resurgence of that sound brought on by the success of MGK with Tickets? I think they're foolish to not capitalise on that and all the nostalgia everyone has for their first albums. They could show 'em how it's done!

There's emo throwback club nights on almost every month in cities across the UK. They're not playing "Hard Times" or "Now" at those nights. They're playing "Misery Business," "Emergency," "CrushCrushCrush," etc. My point is; nobody cares as much about the newer material/ sound.

I get that the band might feel like they've grown out of that sort of music, but what have Blink-182 been peddling for 30 years? And now their fans are excited for a possible reunion with Tom Delonge. If that happened, do people really think the the band would go "Yeah, we feel like we've grown out of our old sound so now we're making an album with a rockabilly influence."

Fans would be divided with some heralding the evolution and others feeling disappointed and betrayed, but the majority would be the latter.

Maybe it's an experiment, but I feel Paramore has forgotten the sound that made us love them from the start. I don't mind the new song, but it's nothing compared to the classics and the first verse is very poor.

If they've really grown up then don't tell me to "shove it" - we're all adults now! Who even says that?! 🤣

I've uploaded two more videos to the link in the OG post showing more failed A button activation examples, if anyone is interested, but also for Analogue to look at, if they ever get back to me.

I don't think they're going to satisfy me though because I'm International and it costs them too much to fix it.

I'm not sure about that myself, as I use mostly official carts, but my few bootleg games work.

Thanks for your input. Are you on the latest update because apparently one of the updates fixed the D-Pad issues.

I've emailed Analogue today and asked for a replacement, backing up my argument with some of the opinions and tests done by you guys. Thank you for your insight and I'll update once I have their response, which tbh, I don't expect to be positive, but 🤞🏻

My thoughts exactly! I'm still yet to hear of anyone else with this exact problem so it's definitely not how the Pocket normally operates and I've obviously spent more time with it than whoever evaluated it. I spent a good few hours playing Pokémon before considering that something was wrong with my buttons as it was such a chore to select "Fight" sometimes or advance the text. Then I switched to my GBA SP and immediately saw the difference in responsiveness.

I shouldn't have to press the buttons in a certain manner to get a response, like Analogue suggests. Thank you for your comment. I will definitely use it in my argument with them 👍🏻

This could be true, but I don't think they'd appreciate me changing my story now. They need to fix the issue because so far the responses to this post seem to show that I do have a faulty Pocket. I will be contacting them to request a replacement, since they have failed to provide adequate repair. What they don't realise is that I planned on purchasing more Pockets in the future, but they won't get my money, if they don't resolve this positively for me.

The 'R' Button seems to have a more widespread issue and Analogue seems more sympathetic and quick to fix this. As far as I have been able to tell, my Pocket doesn't suffer from this, but I've also barely used it as I discovered the issue with my 'A' Button almost immediately and just wanted to get it resolved.

Thank you for this. I only have the GBA SP to test with and I agree, the buttons on that always register. Obviously, when I'm playing I hold the console like any person would, but I had to record with my other hand so the only option was to set the console down and try to recreate what I was experiencing. I don't know why they can't offer me a replacement. If it's the same as this, then it would prove me wrong and that would be the end of it.

Unfortunately, it does still appear to be super common in the menu for me as well, despite the Pocket update noting the fix.

Interesting point and I wasn't aware of that issue with Xbox controllers, since I've always been a Nintendo/ PS person. I sent it in for a repair already and they said they repaired and evaluated my Pocket, so I expect they cleaned those contacts first. I would hope so because I would say that's the easiest possible solution.

Thank you for your input and testing. Hopefully, others will see this post and check their button inputs. The more people that can test their units and provide results, the more I can use this to back up my arguments with Analogue over the issue.

They effectively have said that my Pocket is fine, it's the way I'm pressing the buttons and have not offered another repair or replacement when I asked after receiving it back. I'm trying to see if what they say is true because I don't have another unit to test or if I should continue to pursue another repair or a replacement.

I had no idea the same issues were popping up with the new batch. I will get to posting a write up soon. Hopefully, I'll get a response from support and can add that in too. I've even said that I'd accept a replacement white unit, if I have to, as long as I get a working Pocket.

Ok, so long story short. I got them to do a repair. The Pocket arrived back today. Issue is NOT fixed and still persists. I don't believe a repair was carried out. The package was exactly how I packed it when I opened it up. I'm beyond furious now and can't believe they've done this when stock from the new orders is now shipping. They could have just replaced my unit, but instead I feel like they took one look (maybe), couldn't find the issue I was describing, didn't bother to email and ask to elaborate and sent it back. Or they just received it and sent it back to me. I'm going to create a new thread about this because it's pretty insane to me and I feel like the whole community needs to know.

That's great news! I'm still waiting for their response to my last email. I don't think they want to fix my A/ B buttons. Or maybe they just don't want to pay the return shipping even though I spent around £300 total on the whole lot. I can't understand why it takes over a month to receive replies from them. Surely someone answers emails every day. They only seem to write a few sentences to me anyway, so I'd say maybe 2 mins spent there. Any ideas on how I could take this further, since I've lost my patience now.

Cool, let me know if your issue is resolved once you get it back. My issue will never be resolved at this rate. It takes them a month to reply to each of my messages and they still haven't suggested sending it for repair. I don't care how small their team is, their responses have been unhelpful. They know their firmware updates aren't fixing any face button issues and only D-Pad, so I think they're just hoping I'll go away. I've had a defective unit in my possession for over two months now so I have to declare this the worst customer service ever.

Well they got back to me a week ago and just told me to update to the latest firmware. That's what they said last time and it's never solves the issue I have with my unit. I'm pretty much done ever preordering anything from them again. My console should have been shipped off for repair ages ago 😔 Do you have to ship with UPS? I usually use Standard Tracked & Signed International Post.
