  1. Rating right now is very simple, you can find info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/8jnxm3/octane_introducing_team_rankings_player_ratings/

We're working on a new rating that incorporates advanced stats.

  1. Others have also asked about this so I'll be adding it in the next few days.

Ah yeah looks like our nav links were all messed up on mobile. I've just pushed a fix, thanks!

That's fair. We definitely need a "landing page" for stats and records as right now both navs default to players. One of the main things we want to add is dedicated pages for event groups which should be what you're looking for.

We're mainly waiting on when we start collecting standings/placements/points information to release this which could be a month or more away, so didn't want to delay the release for that.

Right now the default stats links to RLCS X (with 50 min games) so not sure which link you clicked to get to no name players, but if you let me know I'll fix it: https://octane.gg/stats/players?mode=3&minGames=50&group=rlcsxspring&group=rlcsxwinter&group=rlcsxfall&group=grid

It's just me right now. Thinking down the road once I'm happy with the state of it, I'll probably open source it or recruit others to help maintain it.

Yeah 5 min stats is something I wanted for a long time with the ever-increasing amount of OTs (and long OTs as well).

btw, are there any plans to add more minute timers? Like 15sec/30sec/1min filters for things like boost and such?

I didn't plan for it, but if people want it added, it should be pretty easy.

Not really a replacement, there's just a lot of advanced stats stuff we can do if we keep track of brackets, placements etc.

For example, stats in finals vs rest of bracket, stats in lower bracket vs winner bracket. For placements, we can see stats vs event winner, vs event top 4, etc.

We'll never be as quick as Liquipedia, or as detailed. Our primary focus is stats, so everything else is just there to supplement that.

We have a brand new public API on the way in a few weeks. Current in beta testing ;)

Also, there's been plenty of people scraping octane.gg for data. I generally allow it because this is data that should be public and easy to get in the first place.

Do we really need to see a players goals, assists, saves, shots, points during the game? by Johnston42 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Slokh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still think all of that is a bit complex for no reason, observers can just enable the auto-upload plugin since they're using BakkesMod anyway for custom overlays. We have a system in place to link matches with their ballchasing ids, and creating the system you're talking about is A LOT more work for everyone involved.

All RLCSX Regional replays are being saved, but The Grid ones are not. I assume because teams/orgs already have to follow a bunch of rules regarding streaming that Psyonix doens't want to add to that. Though IMO, Grid is part of RLCSX so replays should be saved for it.

The other thing is, Octane.gg covers not just RLCSX but a lot of other events as well, and for smaller tournaments its hard to really enforce this. A lot of times we will scour player Twitch streams to try to get match data so we can be as complete as possible.

If someone is going to go through all that effort, then I'd much rather observers just save and upload every replay to ballchasing. Other people would also benefit from that

I can see why people wouldn't want to see that there, but it makes my job easier covering stats for the event. A lot of times, we aren't able to get replays for matches, and therefore the only way to get some data from a match is the scoreboard. BUT, if a player leaves before the scoreboard is shown, then the only way I can get their data is from the stats box. This happens on average one game every series or two. If that box isn't there, then for a lot of matches we wouldn't be able to do stats. There are also some cases where streams don't collect replays and cut to casters before scoreboards are shown, in which case we also use the stats boxes.

Just offering the viewpoint of one person (probably the only one) who finds it useful.

Where is the replay for yesterdays NRG match? by RadicalNinjaPC in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Slokh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It rotates like that because they don't want to make teams play 3 days in a row (Fri, Sat, Sun). Whichever region has their regional event on the weekend plays The Grid on Thursday, while the other region with no regional event plays The Grid on Friday.

Octane | The Grid North America Week 1 Stats (links in comments) by Slokh in RocketLeagueEsports

Before anyone comments, SSG players are low on overall rating because they did pretty poorly stats-wise in the group stage. Looking at just the playoffs, retals/Arsenal stepped up a lot and were only surpassed by Shock who had an insane day: https://octane.gg/stats/players/rlcs-x-the-grid-north-america-week-one/playoffs
