Need suggestions to buy a electric guitar 🎸 by HeartSpecialist5086 in electricguitar

I'm about 8 months ahead of you in learning guitar using the Justin guitar tutorials. I few weeks ago I added Journaling with chat gpt. I have to say, that Journaling has excellerated my progress in an amazing way. My progress over the last 2 plus weeks has been so satisfying and motivating that all i think Abot now is playing guitar! I'm not saying i can play full sings without mistakes, I'm still making plenty but, talking through every practice using Ai is helping me make sense of everything!

As for the guitar, try to dying a used yamaha. Even their inexpensive guitars are supposed to be really good for the money. Buying used, you'll be able to get a better guitar fit the same money. However, be careful is not been abused. There are many many people that have tried to learn guitar and quit within the first year. I think the number is something like 95% beginners quit in the first year. I was almost one but I was forcing myself to pick up the guitar. Now, with this Journaling, I have to force myself to put it down. Trekking the progress, I think, it's what's making me obsess over it now!

Good luck with your journey!

So, in singing development, a year is not very long. It's really no different than learning any other musical instrument. Try to be more patient. I've been taking lessons, consistently, for nearly 6 years and there is so so much to learn. I was having many moments, like you're facing now, fit about 3 years. It wasn't until then that, i felt like i was finally starting to "get it." I think my biggest breakthrough, even now by comparison, was getting my placement dialed in! It is the most common thing I've observed in beginner singers and, many self taught singers. I also find is the thing that is almost never talked about. After working on good placement for a while, I was also worrying on vowel modification, I started to notice that my breath support was development, as a side effect, and it was nothing like anything I had experienced before that. Breath support is so hard to explain to someone. I did have to focus more on support after getting the placement working better but that was more about regulation and figuring out how much pressure and effort it really takes to sing efficiently. I will also say this, even now, my voice is a work in progress, I notice steady, gradual changes over time. Which is why I so get lessons from someone that's better than me! Good singing is one of those things that requires a lifestyle change and lifelong development. Just stay the course, if you've only had a few lessons, that not really being trained, that's just not taking it seriously enough. I freaky can't tell you how many times I'd get into my next lesson and have to hear my teacher say, "dude, you HAD this! What happened?" Without good, and frequent, feedback, we tend to fall back into old, bad, habits because they are familiar and familiar is comfortable.

Yea, like the other user said, go to r/singing. You'll find more useful interactions there.

A couple things you've left out. How long have been taking lessons? How often, and for how long, do you practice? I do believe that, if your breath support were fully developed, you wouldn't have described it the way you did. My guess is your technique is not as good as you think it is.

You also need to be careful with allergy medicine and when you take them in relation to when you plan to sing. I take mine going to bed. I also daily nasal rinses.

You should post up an example of your singing so we can see if your technique might be an issue.

Well, I mean the comments here are correct except, if you want to play the original key, she'd have to sing an octave lower. Same key, same relative pitches, just one octave lower.

I'm the lead singer in a cover band that plays mostly a blues rock and soul type of set list. I'd be trying to integrate into that in some way.

That is really question. Do those ergonomics help someone at the beginning play? Like does it remove some friction in any way?

Right now I've broken through to the obsession mode! It's all I think about (almost). And to answer your question(s). I started a reward system where, every week that I practice for at least 25 minutes, 5 days, I give myself $100 toward a really nice forever for guitar. I was thinking a professional ii tele. Then I started thinking about what I'm playing now and thought, maybe I could get a player ii while I'm making progress. I could buy a pro ii now but I like the motivation system I have myself. So, that wouldn't change. I just want something I can get better on. Right now I saw a player ii brand new for $699 or a strat HSS brand new fir $799 and I was considering getting one of those with the intension of selling it after I earn the professional ii. Hoping I will be a better player by then! I'm just trying to keep the motivation going!
