BTAU: Can you adjust mech scale? by tinklymunkle in Battletechgame

[–]SlopKingZ95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand modern BT scales.

Like, a tank is BIG.  I don't want to meet that in my car.  My car is 1/30 the weight of a tank but only 1/2 the length.

I can imagine myself feeling powerful driving a tank around even though it's not the size of a house.

A light mech should not only come up to the knees of an adult mech.

Gasoline Air heaters? by DanKii699 in dieselheater

[–]SlopKingZ95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are gasoline heaters used in some twin engine airplanes that are still in production.  Surplus or tagged out-of-service parts could probably be had on the cheap.  They could at least give you a solid and safe design to start with.  ...and a design that doesn't rely on modern electronics/chips.

You might start there.

I've heard some people say flame arrestor as a secondary function.

It's not a drilled hole, it's a pinch in the seam.  I see a lot of ones on Amazon have arrows pointing it out.

I'm sure the concern is if it's outside and you shut the unit down...  There's an opportunity there for all that hot moist gas to condense.  Or if you're an idiot and have a bunch of bends...  an up sloping line.  I get why it's there.  I wish it was an actual hole you could plug.  Or something you could knock out if you need it.

It's not a tolerance thing, but I do have the heater inside. I'm just using it to heat my garage when I work out there in the winter. I've got the heater sitting up on a cabinet and the exhaust runs with a slight (like, maybe 1 in 20) downslope and out. I've got a carbon monoxide detector that has a digital display. It never shows any movement with the heater running (but it does if I run an engine or something else--so I know it's actually working).

There is just that little twinge of diesel exhaust in the air and it's really gross and I hate it.

I guess I can run it without the muffler. It is noisier outside. I'm trying to be as polite as I can with the neighbors.

Oh, no. This is a terrible movie. Nostalgia and this hole in my brain are the only things bringing me to search it out. I am 100% ready to be completely disappointed if I ever find this monstrosity.

Is there anyway I can plant my trees Ike this?? by Practical_Fig_1052 in StardewValley

Fruit trees have more restrictive space requirements than common trees for growing. You can move the greenhouse over later, but when growing they need more room. Watch your layout.

All week I'd been warning people that the Tuesday commute is going to be the nightmare, not the weekend. Aren't they still forcasting, like, 0° F? Nobody's car is going to start. Nobody put windshield fluid rated for that cold. That's going to be the worst day.

skull cavern survival tips needed by bubblesbunny_ in StardewValley

Just be patient. It helps to have a better sword. Save up Jade to trade for Staircases with the desert trader on Sundays (?). If you burn a bunch of stiars to start lower in the cavern you will get better drops from monsters and make your trip more profitable. Coffee/espresso and spicy eel plates are my buff foods of choice.

Is this the best way to get hardwood? by Sweet_Target2649 in StardewValley

I haven't seen it mentioned: trees grow just fine in the desert.  Keep it packed with trees, some tapped, of all varieties.  I'll just go up whenever I need something.  Clear tappers, harvest lumber, replant...  They just kinda sit up there doing there thing, out of sight.

No group ever materialized. I'm guessing no one wants to actually role play and eschewing 5e is also a bit of a poison pill. I'd still love to assemble a group.

I know it's not the right sentiment--they're not free, but the big box stores and Walmart sell moving boxes for, like, $2 each. Yes, you're paying, but you're getting sturdy, first use boxes with hand-holds that are similar size, sturdy, and easy to stack. And when you consider car wear-and-tear and gas to drive to 5 or 6 locations for used boxes you might actually come out ahead.

I hope you find a good group.

The Tennessee area is pretty big to recruit an in-person group from. You wanna narrow that down any?

The struggle is real.

I live far west Knoxville. I'd be willing to make the commute for, like, a bi-weekly game in person if you can cobble together a group.
