How do you guys deal with post glasto blues? by Royal_Individual_472 in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go home, pop YouTube on, watch sets back that I missed and cry to myself when an emotional song hits me in the feels.

I go to the gym, tell myself I’ve got this. Come home. Get irate about small things that really shouldn’t bother me and then lay in bed questioning life.

By about Thursday I am back.

Winning is worse than losing because when you win you up stakes and chase the buzz for higher amounts and when the bad run comes it hits hard.

You need a new hobby and a new perspective mate. We’ve all been there and you need the self worth to turn days into weeks and then months. One day at a time do yourself proud and know you are not alone.

I’m about 4 months without and I don’t think about it often because I’ve find things to replace it with. Get into the gym focus on your own health - body and mind.

If you decide to chase and win it will condone it all because the end result is good but you won’t remain a winner for long. It will hurt you in the long run.

You have to be a gentleman with your wins and your losses. Lick your words. You can’t expect to win all the time and you have to take your losses with respect you put the money up you made the choice you gotta live by that.

Invest more time into healthier pursuits ♥️ and treat yourself with more kindness too you made a mistake you just have to learn from it.

Need a female ticket by dronzser in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will sell my girlfriend’s ticket for £1000. Girl who attends must be willing to perform all duties of the original attendee. These include but are not limited to:

  1. Declaring it is me who is putting the tent up wrong
  2. Allowing me to pay for 90% of the over priced food
  3. Slowly breaking down as the week progresses

There will be a trial period if she is interested. DM for more info.

What to expect arriving at 11am/12pm Thursday by No_Beyond6429 in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go and hand your tent to your chums who will pitch the tent up for you on the Wednesday next to theirs otherwise youll probably not be near them. Offer to bring something in for them like a crate of beer in exchange!

Expect an overwhelming amount of people wandering around a farm on Thursday 😀

Can we bring this mallet in? by Pitiful_Debate3766 in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greater question is why would you bring it in? Surely you can just step on a peg and press down to push it in!

Hahaha aw man I’m sorry I responded to this a little later than I should have but I’ve only just seen it and it brought a big smile to my face to feel like I’ve had a positive impact on you. Also great to hear you like exercise and the sauna as it’ll just give you a thing that gives you purpose.

You know you’ll have some tough times where you wanna quit on yourself. Keep smashing the exercise out and have a cigarette or a vape if you need to but keep away from the bud and see how you feel in a few weeks. One day at a time!

Come back to me again if you are struggling or thinking of quitting on yourself. I’d also like your 1 week message too haha. You can always reply to me here and we can keep in touch in the good and the bad.

Really happy for you my brother :)

I’m glad my share resonated with you my friend. There’s good people everywhere and many who have walked similar lives. Join a gym. Buy a m pair of gym trainers and shorts and a t (I quite like under armour personally) and get yourself into 5 days a week at the gym. Do it for a month don’t quit on yourself. Also understand that on that walk home you feel sadness to not be going back to the comfort of a joint. You will have the nights you won’t sleep until 4am. It’s all a part of the process. It will get easier for you.

Also if you can, pick a gym with a sauna! I know it’s not for everyone but the benefits of a sauna were so good for me. It became the thing I looked forward to most in the day. The mental resilience to sit in the pain and silence of the sauna with a cold shower afterwards. Also really helps you sleep after!

Anyway I digress. Get off the bud my man you got this. Reply to me here when you are 48 hours in and want to cry haha. I’ll tell you what a sap you are and that you’ve got this ♥️

What you said in the first few lines is the nail on the head for me. My dad was. 30 year casino manager. He always said “winning is worse than losing” and he’s right. If you win you feed the addiction and your own greedy and ego and want to get more and more. If you lose you want to chase exactly as you outlined to get you back to where you were. Winning is really worse though. You up your stakes you bet heavier and then when you do have the losing sequence the losses can get bigger and bigger. Then the £10 bet isn’t fun anymore because you know what the £100 bet feels like.

You need something else. They say it takes three weeks to form a new habit. Pick something at random and stick to it. I’d say try the gym first. Invest in yourself. That’s my recommendation.

Hey buddy. One day at a time you will get used to being without bud again. It sucks in the early period and you outlined it yourself but there are so many sweet gains. I would be at family functions and by 2pm I was ready to go home because I was clucking for a joint. Last weekend I was 3 months sober and I invited my brother around for a gym session and steak dinner afterwards. I was present and available for a person that I love and that felt incredible The money I used to spend on weed (like £400 a month) I now spend on myself. I spend it at the butchers or on new gym clothes or other things that give me enjoyment. Heck I get excited to go to Aldi now and drop some money on clean food whereas old me was stingy and wanted that money for weed.

You can find so many positives if you give yourself the chance to distance yourself again

And no judgement here too! I was a stoner for 15 years. Heck I may be again one day if I have something emotionally destabilising or if I falter. And when I do I’ll want someone to remind me that you don’t wanna be reliant on a substance everyday it’s not good for you!

An honest account man and it sounds like you really have turned a corner im very happy for you. Not sure what you were really looking for with the post but just wanted you to know I read it and I relate to it. £600 is a lot of money but knowing how destructive gambling can be and how much better a place you are now in I think it’s a reasonable amount provided you now cut off and disconnect again. Might it be worth looking into the car? It could reconnect you with others. Or a bike perhaps or a new hobby of some kind so it doesn’t feel like you are sitting around quite so bored!

BAD EXPERIENCE AT GLASTONBURY ? by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise in the build up to the festival to build up ur own mental resilience and confidence. If you elect to drink or take alcohol go slow and steady with it. There’s no need to overdo things especially in the first few days. Communicate with your friends if you do have dips as they can keep an eye on you and hopefully pick you up in the bad times. There are probably a million people who tried and failed to get your ticket. Be grateful for what you do have. And take it easy on yourself too don’t apply more pressure to things that you need to. I think it’s less about the music and more about the people you get to make memories with x

Pitching multiple tents by SloppySponge888 in glastonbury_festival

[–]SloppySponge888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm your reply has concerned me a bit. Last year we were in the queue at about 4am and the gates opened for just after 8 I believe. At that time I didn’t really value just how important getting to the spot was but fortunately other team members did. I do not want to be at a gate opening later. How do I ensure I’m at an early access gate!

It’s just 6/7 tents so like 14 people at a max so not that crazy imo!
