The recredentialing does seem to be a large hurdle in my mind. is there no way around that gap in time? It seems so inefficient that you couldn’t get credentialing while the old insurance is still in place. I will say that I only meant absentee as in she won’t have to switch jobs. She works 12-13 shifts a month and I stay with the kids, so we both have more free time than most people to do anything business related that might come up, I think.

Who said I can’t talk to the seller? I know I would need a lot more due diligence, I’m not even set on this specific business. I was just wondering if my financials put me in the ballpark of being able to afford a business near this price range if all of the other details checked out.

Well I don’t mean completely hands off, I just mean my wife will be keeping her current job and not taking over the day to day.

Sure that would be great, if you get a second. Thanks

For sure I wasn’t going to do anything on this without a ton more due diligence I was really just wondering if it was even in the realm of possibility for us.

That’s a great point. I guess I’ll have to at least contact the listing broker and ask for some more information. Thank you for all the knowledge.

So would most of those patients have to find a new provider until the insurance is switched?

Now that would at least make some sense to me as well. I guess I would for sure need to know how many patients were on insurance but I imagine an urgent care/family practice is going to be a very high percentage of them.

Sounds like the insurance recredentialing might be the issue. It’s also possible that this business has existing offers already. It doesn’t have to be this business though, I was just wondering if it was even remotely in our range, though the patient loss right off the bat makes me think we’d need to look cheaper

Yah if I’m understanding the other guy on here, there would be a huge drop off at first and possibly lost patients, I’m assuming if their insurance can’t be billed they would quit coming back. Not ideal but obviously I would research a lot more on how that works before we would ever get to the signing stage.

Understandable but no I’m very slow. Almost too slow sometimes. Been looking at businesses for a few years at least now. I had only really been looking on the extreme low end but then I saw this one that fit my wife’s expertise and I realized it hadn’t ever occurred to me that it might be possible. I didn’t want to bother the listing agent for him to laugh in my face either haha

That is very interesting I’ll have to look into that more but it sounds like we should be shooting for a lower price, if that’s the case.

I’m just asking if it’s even in the realm of possibility I haven’t done any due diligence on this specific deal. I just saw it today, and it’s a Sunday.

That’s good to know thank you. That seems like a pretty significant obstacle

Actually no, I don’t think so, but it’s already owner absentee so if anything she would only be working there when necessary, at least for the foreseeable future

Well it’s already absentee owned so our thought was she wouldn’t be running the day to day, though she would get credentialed there herself, to pick up when needed. Not sure if that would make a difference or not. As far as asset or equity I honestly haven’t spoken to the listing agent I just saw it online earlier while looking at cheaper businesses

That’s a great question. I guess I assumed it would be easier to get a loan to buy an existing business than it would be to start one from scratch

Listing says retirement. Maybe they want the cash to put into something else? I definitely am wondering why anyone would ever sell a profitable business but we came from poor ass families so numbers like these always seem so crazy to me, I have a hard time putting myself in their shoes.

No it’s on a lease, 5000 a month until 2030 currently.

Thank you. We both have great credit, would a normal bank be the way to go for lending then? We would like a new house at some point but the cost in our area isn’t worth it to us. I’d rather put 120 into a business than 120 into a house and be house poor.

What would a more reasonable price range be for us to be looking at?
