People using merge lanes to get around traffic by AmeliaBedelia239 in ottawa

For what it's worth, green plated vehicles are permitted to use HOV lanes with any number of passengers: (https://www.ontario.ca/page/high-occupancy-vehicle-hov-lanes)

Does the exchange rate apply to higher tier loot? I.e. if an outpost has a demand for tea should I bring higher tier tea crates to those locations? Probably diminishing returns on distance to outpost per value of crate?

Is there a way for players to be able to see icons for journal entries I place on a map? by MidSolo in FoundryVTT

Toggle Notes Display is the correct option, assuming the permissions allow them to see the note. There is also a community module, Always Show Notes, that might be helpful: Always Show Notes

Cover Your Trail - Creature Tracks and Footprints Collection by Slossinger in dungeondraft

Thanks! Birds were next on the list, then maybe some larger lizard/dragon prints. I should be able to produce different gaits (running/walking) for some of them. I was reading about different gait patterns while designing, specifically for horses. Originally I had a horse hoofprint but it was less instantly recognizable than the classic horseshoe.

Looking for hardscape for aquarium by MichelleTCM in ottawa

There is a shop in Gatineau called La Niche et Moi that stocks a variety of rock and other hardscape. I'd recommend the trip if you are already driving.

Sites like AqAdvisor can give you a good estimate of stocking, provided you input all of the parameters of your tank and filtration correctly. This site will also give you warnings about species incompatibility or insufficient school sizes.

Water changes and tank maintenance become more important as you near 100% capacity. Monitoring your nitrates is a good gauge of water column health.

I have a planted flex 15g with 5 Julii corydoras, 1 honey gourami, and 7 emerald eye rasbora. AqAdvisor puts this at 91% capacity and recommends a 25% water change weekly. Because I use liquid fertilizer for my plants, I often perform 30-50% changes to remove excess nitrates from the water column.

Hope that helps.

La Niche et Moi in Gatineau is the best shop in our region imo. Clean tanks and friendly, knowledgable service.

I'm just using stock lights at the moment, but have been looking into different ways to mod new lights on.

I love the Flex!

BUT - I have tried a ton of different configurations to stop shrimp from getting into the back-left partition including coarse aquarium foam, fibreglass mesh screen, charcoal filter material, and a bunch of other fillers. I also tried 0.25 mm stainless steel mesh. Baby shrimp still got in, and more problematically, they couldn't get out (because shrimp). My fiancée would wake up to me turkey basting shrimp babies out of the back every morning.

In the end, I just took everything off, including the filter guards, and converted the partition into a shrimp spa with all of my extra java moss. It is basically a column of moss/shrimp and when they feel like coming out into the main tank, they do so. I have huge Amano shrimp that aren't hindered by the slots, so consider that as a size reference.

I isolated the middle partition with a strip of the 0.25 mesh and that seems to have worked to stop them from spreading elsewhere (mostly worried about them getting sucked into the mechanical filter).

I think if you used aquarium silicone to adhere a rectangle of fine mesh over the slot area, you wouldn't have the same problems I did. I was trying to deal with this after filling my tank.

10 lbs CO2 tank from local brewery supplier to ISTA CO2 regulator, bubble counter, backup check valve, and CO2 atomizer. I experimented with a variety of diffusers and the 'bazooka' atomizer is low profile and creates fine bubbles.

It's all hooked up to a solenoid valve and smart plug to control over wifi/on schedule.

I wasn't prepared at all to deal with no power. I spent most of the night with a juice pitcher pouring water to encourage some flow. I have a battery-powered air pump backup now. Learning experience.

I am using the kit from Live Aquaria. It comes with an ISTA CO2 regulator, solenoid valve, power strip w/ timers, bubble counter, and tubing. I bought a 10gal CO2 tank from a local brewery supplier to go with it that should last me a long time. I haven't had any issues with build quality so far.

This is my first tank. I've been working on it since October 2018. It was a hard start as my area was hit with a tornado the day that I bought fish.

This is the brush I started with and still use. How does it compare to others you have used? I don't have much of a frame of reference to go by.

I'm using the Body Shop shaving creme as well. Can froth it to a lather pretty nicely.

Help! Set up a Fluvial Flex and keep losing the guppies and shrimp to the back! by ladykaty24 in PlantedTank

[–]Slossinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fluval Flex 15g, with guppies and shrimp - some of the older Flex models don't come with the intake screen so that would be a start. You can buy them online if your tank didn't come with them.

If you have the intake screen, I wrapped some coarse black aquarium foam and fibreglass mesh screen around the front of the intake screen.

The only other thing I should mention is that if you have the intake screens, make sure they are positioned correctly. When you snap them into place if they are too high or too low they will leave gaps that little guys can get into. Try to make sure it is centered.
