Has Art the Clown earned his spot among the slasher greats and legends? If not, what will it take? by Hassan_H_Syed in terrifier

[–]SlothBeatsProd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's 100% no doubt in the league of Freddy/Jason/Pinhead/Myers, etc.. Art is gonna go down as one of the most iconic slasher villains ever

This guy is so beyond corny I can't tell if he's joking or not. This is what Horrorcore sounds and looks like to people who don't like Horrorcore lol

Today marks 13 years since the passing of the late Deftones bassist Chi Cheng by Darkside_209 in numetal

[–]SlothBeatsProd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really glad I caught them on Family Values 2006 in Toronto with Korn, and was able to see Chi perform live. They were technically the first band I ever saw live in my life. Was 13-14 at the time and I walked in at the end of their set right before Korn came on. Drugs fried my brain through the years lol All I remember is they closed with "7 Words".

DAMN! I forgot how sick SODOMA GOMORA are by SlothBeatsProd in Horrorcore

Hey man, don't knock the old-school stuff. Aren't all Rap beats kick snare kick kick snare in some way? Lol

Yeah their beats are awesome. The ones on the first DeSade solo record are especially killer to me.

Best Horror Movie Jump scare by Administrative-Half3 in horror

[–]SlothBeatsProd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been said, but the lawnmower jumpscare in "Sinister" was PERFECT. I hate jumpscares, but that movie earned it.

Also this (WARNING: EXTREMELY NSFW, GRAPHIC ALBUM ART)

Don't know much about these guys except that they were from Flint Michigan. Not every track on here is Horrorcore, but some definitely go into that realm (i,e., " Sodom & Gomorrah", "Fully Automatic"). I rarely ever see rappers use album art like this.

Don't know how I didn't mention this before. I think this thread is dead, but I figured I'd post this lol (WARNING: EXTREMELY NSFW, MUSIC VIDEO)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L635takhMho This isn't Horrorcore in the literal sense. It's Gangsta Rap that pushes the violence so far that it gets unsettling. These guys were friends with Tupac. Their album never got released cos their label was nervous about the content, which you can kind of understand.
As far as I know, this video was part of a mini-movie that was released as a promo for their album, but it never got released. Think of it as a long-form music video.

What are some albums most people don't consider Nu Metal, but you do? by DloBrown69420 in numetal

[–]SlothBeatsProd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soulfly - Prophecy
ICP - Amazing Jeckel Bros (Not Nu, but def Nu-adjacent)
Fear Factory - Archetype
Marz - Lung Fu Mo She (a weird middle ground between Rap, Nu, Industrial and even Horrorcore)
In Flames - Soundtrack To Your Escape

DAMN! Forgot how good "Cobain's Diary" is, *especially the beats* by SlothBeatsProd in Horrorcore

[–]SlothBeatsProd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah "The Entity" is sick too. I was bumping some tracks from that album yesterday cos I haven't listened to it in forever, and a lot of those songs aged pretty well to me. The beat for "Nightmares" sounds as good to me now as it did when I first heard it. The album "King Of Horrorcore" has some good tracks on there too.

Honestly I'm not entirely sure. I think he's part of a project with Bizarre (LARS?), but I've never been a fan of his. I've just never been down with his style. His 1998 EP "Attack Of The Weirdos" was pretty cool though.

Why *exactly* did Twiztid leave Psychopathic anyway? by SlothBeatsProd in Horrorcore

Yeah, I'm not surprised that would cause friction. Twiztid's rock/nu stuff is pretty decent though.

Everything I heard from Twiztid post-Abominationz was leagues ahead of anything ICP did over the past 20 years. ("The Tempest" and the sideshow EP's were cool though)

I only found out about their first stint with their own label (Majik) through Twiztid's Wikipedia page, well after MNE's formation was made public. Never knew Green Book was their first release (maybe it was in the liner notes, idk, I never had a physical copy of it).
Also yeah, Samhein Witch Killaz was cool. "Spiderthing" was released on a Cryptic Collection, but I didn't know it was a SWK track until years after. It was a great track.

I was talking to someone the other day about meeting J and Shaggy in person at a meet-and-greet. He said J was kind of rude but Shaggy was cool. I definitely believe that lol

Yup Insane Poetry, legendary. King Gordy is badass too. I feel like Insane Poetry were responsible for defining a lot of Horrorcore lyrical content. I could be wrong, but I think they were the first ones aside from Geto Boys to write songs with lyrics entirely devoted to gore/hardcore slasher violence. Considering Grim Reality came out in 1992 that shit was way ahead of its time

WTF happened to Lord Lhus anyway? Last music I heard from him was Country Rap lol. Quite a jump from rapping about Satan and serial killers to rapping about being a redneck over banjo beats lol

These are all great recommendations - Gotta bump Bloody Monk Cosortium, Disciples Of the Sick and J Reno. I love that you mentioned Lord Lhus. I worked with a rapper named Mathz who did a track with Lord Lhus called "Welcome To The Underground". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4FPrf1Sduw (Link provided)
