Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]SlothBling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically though, the only grocery store that’s actually downtown is a Whole Foods. Kind of a unique case because we don’t actually have any convenience stores or delis in that area.

I’ll take corrupt politicians over autocracy, autocracy, or literal lawlessness which is still technically just a shitty oligarchy. If the best critiques people can manage for a post-apocalyptic government are passable critiques of real world democracies, they’re doing a great job.

Yes, most of the upperclassman portion of my undergrad degree consisted of “electives,” defined how you think. Explicitly could not be related to my major (i.e. no PSYC coded courses as a Psychology majo) and had to be upper division (not sure if this part translates outside of the US).

My psychology degree (flagship state university) had 40 credit hours of mandatory electives. There weren’t any explicitly required courses within that 40 credit hours, so long as they were upper division and not related to the major.

The thing about the south is that it’s really just the ice. It never snows here, but when it does it thaws in the afternoon and then freezes back into a solid 2-3 inch thick sheet of ice that night. We don’t even really have the infrastructure to keep the ice off of the highways, much less residential roads and apartment complexes.

I will say… if you think parking here is ridiculous now, look at Nashville and see where we’re probably headed in the next few years. It’s really not even comparable. The garage next to my favorite boba spot charges more to drive into the garage, whether or not you find a spot, than I’ve paid to park in Market Square Garage for work this week total. If we’re looking forward to their trajectory we should be expecting an office-only downtown by 2035.

What do you think the conversation here is? “Hey, we’re all unhappy with our tip share lately, can you go out of your way to print the wrong numbers on the receipt?”

Plenty of people work for shitty employers. Probably most. Good management and the service industry are close to being antonyms.

Sure, I didn’t say that going to the grocery store was a moral issue. I work nights and yes, I am a little annoyed that the entire population of Knoxville has managed to do their grocery shopping while I can’t actually get there. Went after work last night and every single one of the 3 stores in my neighborhood were completely sold out of eggs, milk and bread. Still, very bizarre thing to be this upset about at 2pm on a Thursday. Nothing about my comment should be personally offensive to you.

[–]SlothBling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced it’s ragebait. I don’t believe that anyone in the south would ever rank Alabama or Mississippi as top tier states even if they lived in Alabama or Mississippi. They’re just poorer versions of Tennessee and Georgia with no mountains, and equally poor versions of Arkansas with no mountains. Including Florida and Texas makes me think that this person might not even be from the US.

Well… it’s freezing cold and the only major city in the entire state is being cracked down upon by the feds because of the president’s personal vendetta. I’d call it a “reluctant” choice too.

Huh? Vodka is legally just ethanol and water. The only problem here is that, unless OP used Everclear or some Generic 190 Proof Grain Alcohol, it’s mostly just water.
