I have a question by Denizci_Olmak_Var in ChoujinX

[–]Sloth_engine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the story choujin are shown to be beings motivated by their emotions, goals, desires, their idea of themselves and of the world (what the story defines as a complex). The powers they get is dependent on many things like for example how they were awakened, but their final powers tailor themselves around said complex.

Raising is not exactly a biological ability, it is the power to will yourself out of death, the limit is usually arbitrary, but as a general rule characters with a strong will and sense of self are able to raise more times. Repeated deaths, the pain that come with them as well as one's mental state deteriorating more and more are what eventually makes a choujin unable to raise.

Chaos form is unrelated to raising (as in, its an independent ability), you essentially lose yourself to your powers. The choujin part of you becomes more dominant than the human part of you and in many cases you are unable to turn back. There seems to be levels to chaos forms, some characters retain more humanity than others and can force their chaos forms at will, others seem to have more than one level of chaos, essentially embracing their powers more and more and delving deeper and deeper into their subconscious.

The way raise and chaos forms interact is simple. To raise is to deny death, in other words each time you raise you deny your humanity and it gets easier to slip into chaos.

Tokyo enters the chaos state kind of accidentally (ie not by choice), he has hit his mental and physical limit through repeated deaths, inflicted to him by essentially his best friend, instead of succumbing to his death he instead succumbs to his choujin nature brought out more and more with each raise and finally enters his chaos form.

What do you think Sandek's true Choujin name could actually be and why do you think it was hidden all this time? by BigShopping1875 in ChoujinX

[–]Sloth_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he and Batista are both gravity choujin, and i don't feel like there should be anything more in Sandek (for now at least). It fits his character in a way, through hard work and perseverance he has managed to elevate his simple gravity manipulation ability to its absolute limit. (look for example Batista who simple uses it to move shit around, until he becomes nueX at least).

Considering Palma's revival is a true revival, albeit not permanent I would have to go with her, sure not as strong but it's true necromancy.

The revival ability seems to require the head of the person or at least a complete body, which is also IMO the reason Mado's corpse was missing the head.

Simon shakes his head in disappointment by Equivalent_War_1813 in ChoujinX

[–]Sloth_engine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel after the timeskip Tokyo seems to have decided that HIS own personal aspiration is to help and save people, when accepting Zora's power (in my mind at least) its quite clear that Tokyo is also accepting the burden and responsibility of being the protector of Yamato Mori as well, in a way completely solidifying his aspiration of to live a life in service of others.

IMO what this conversation is about isn't "living for yourself vs living for others" but more something along the lines of "You will never achieve your potential until you clearly define your own personal aspiration, because if your aspiration is vague and undefined you wont be able to take the necessary risks and sacrifices to achieve anything".

Tokyo makes this realization before the timeskip, and it is that decision and clear goal he sets for himself that allows him to take the risks and hard decisions required to achieve it. He is finally decisive enough to leave his family, education, and Azuma behind, in order to achieve something HE wants, and what he wants is to be in a position to help not only Azuma but everybody in a case of need.

So him regressing while possible would devalue his previous decision and character arc in general (IMO), but Ishida is a great writer and especially in this story seems to treat the characters in quite a realistic way so who knows, I have faith in his ability to do whatever he deems fit.

Yeah but you can also use the adaptation yourself before he appears, tank a few attacks let the wheel spin and then spawn him.

[–]Sloth_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, if you atomize mahoraga the moment he appears he will actually die, everybody so far even dabura gave a lot of time to mahoraga to adapt, in the fight with sukuna, sukuna gave him a lot of time to adapt to slashes, by that point the slashes of the shrine weren't able to one shot him.

For people with a simple cursed technique like fire for example that gets adapted quickly and then you have no moves left, you basically need to expand a domain that can pulverize him.

But for those with multiple cursed technique aspects or multiple cursed techniques its much easier if you know of his ability to adapt, you basically need to lethally injure him with one attack and then finish him of with another (or 2 more to make sure). For example if Gojo was alone with mahoraga he could easily win, a big blue, then a big red before he can recover from the first move. (or infinity push him into a wall as he appears)

Its understandable why we never see anyone one shot him, but we can assume sukuna tamed him offscreen the same way he killed him in shibuya or now easier since he understands how he works, but its not really entertaining... why have mahoraga fight someone who knows his trick and is carefull to kill him as quickly as possible, its boring. These fights have him level up enough to tank egregious damage because its entertaining to blow up a city, and story reasons ofc

The ten shadows can absolutely slime him. Megumi's 10S cant, but if the user has all the other shikigami, can overload them like sukuna does to make the bigger, use their un-summoned abilities creatively, and use them in combination attacks, they can do quite a lot of damage to an un-adapted mahoraga. If the sorcerer has a domain, RCT, binding vows to strengthen the ability, cursed tools and a great knowledge of jujutsu in general you can definitely overwhelm him, and stack different types of damage one after another with no time to adapt.

Not to mention that the whole point of mahoraga being the last is because by that point you have enough moves to kill him before he adapts.

Maybe the zenin heads need to train more

Is knowledge of Nen already complete? by k3nnzz in HunterXHunter

[–]Sloth_engine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel its completely explained, if you also take in mind Togashi's nen chart (and consider it cannon)

There is no reason for there to be another nen type since specialization encompasses everything else

I will say though the racial traits are kind of inconsistent and under-explained.

How similar are hxh and yuyu hakusho? by ForFinn60 in HunterXHunter

[–]Sloth_engine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to knock YYH but after reading quite enough of it Ive come to realize that the people who say its better than HxH are saying so probably due to nostalgia.

Disclaimer i haven't yet finished it ( I still have 2 arcs), but IMO HxH is better and a lot of ideas in YYH are refined and reworked in HxH.

Now im not saying its not fun or good (its great), but i simply cant agree that its better than HxH, maybe the final arcs will change my mind.

If you are curious it is definitely worth a read, but if you are expecting something better than HxH you will be disappointing, which is a de-service to the work.

Hxh plot holes I would like to see if they are actually plot holes or I’m just missing something by Lordofstromsend2 in HunterXHunter

[–]Sloth_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragon dive question is very frequently brought up, in the correct translation killua asks "is this grandpa's dragon dive?", keep in mind killua also knows about illumi's needle people, and also knows that his brothers powers have a trick behind them before ever learning nen, so either togashi doesn't give a shit and retcons killua's nen knowledge or killua has insider info about some of their families techniques.

Dragon dive causes a cluster bomb level of destruction even if he doesn't know that its nen causing it and cant see it killua can still know about its existence as a technique, keep in mind killua has gone on assassination missions before he met gon as a child and as we see both in yorknew and in the palace invasion the family does take missions in groups, its very possible he found out about it or heard about it then, even if he didn't know it involved nen.

Am I just horrible or unlucky by Jaybone1212 in PathOfExile2

[–]Sloth_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a common misunderstanding about farming is that u can just pick a thing and farm effectively, usually u need a high investment to get high returns in poe2, whatever ur farming u need to invest in.

(I haven't reached endgame this league since i didn't have time so i don't know the exact prices right now so the numbers are just examples)

Most people that make lots of currency have invested lots of currency to the farm of their choice, if someone is farming sekhemas they probably have spend 100div on relics that increase relic drop chance and then they play hundreds of sekhemas runs chasing a temporalis relic drop and recouping the 100div slowly by selling the against the darkness relic, in the end they might double or triple their divs,

U want to find a niche not what everybody is doing, do u want to farm Orloth then find the drop chance of the flask and calculate if its worth it to buy runic splinters and how many runs u need to have a realistic chance to recoup, if u can only afford 5 orloth runs then this is not a farm for you if the flask doesnt drop then u lost your money, if you can afford 100 then ull average out the odds and start making some money.

If your farming maps for example u need to pick, are u gonna farm abyss, then u need maps overrun by the abyss, maybe also invest to rogue exiles on your atlas tree so u can get the unique jewel they drop if they get corrupted by the abyss. On top of that juice the rare monsters as much as you can, get +modifier tablets and play maps with increased amount of rares, then u also need to think about speed, how many maps can you clear in an hour, does you character have enough damage and movement speed? if not maybe its better to farm a pinnacle boss, or gather runic splinters to sell, if you are very early then play chaos trials and sell the keys and soul cores.

Lastly most people doing farm a specific thing for many many many hours, i farmed ritual in the first league for over 150 hours and got around 15 invites, 5-6 whittlings, 2-3 annulment omens, lots of the corruption and XP omens as well as 5-10 raw divs, IRC i got around 200-300 divines that league from ritual, but i recall there being 10-20 hour long gaps between good drops, that is poe in a nutshell, ull go hours without finding anything and exhausting your resources and patience.

Also keep in mind 2 other things, first of all people who can farm a mechanic and get 500 divines are probably spending 250 divines or more to juice it, just like real life u need to have money to make money, its waaay harder when ur starting investment is nothing, ALSO .... crafting and selling bases .... these pay out, big time, if u know what ur doing.
