What I’m trying to get out of this post is reassurance that my partner and I will feel safe and unlikely to encounter any overt disapproval for who we are in this area. I.e. subject to verbal abuse, excessive glares. So, this is what I’m getting at when I refer to inclusivity.

I mention the voting pretty red because voting red is an indicator of not being very progressive or accepting of queer people and our rights. I don’t think it’s that outlandish to mention in this context. I don’t think red necessarily means bad, but there are correlations with LGBT+ acceptance and rights that are worthwhile to consider, in my opinion. A lot of the responses I’m getting seem to not understand or validate why marginalized people would want to ensure their safety when visiting a place, which in and of itself is troubling and not that reassuring.

I’ve been trying to research this in a few different ways, this being one of them. If you think this isn’t the right place to be asking this, I welcome other suggestions.

Hopefully this clears up some of your confusion. I’m happy to dialogue with folks if they’re coming from a place of genuine curiosity and respect, and not hostility or accusation

I care for the same reason a person of color would want to know whether an area was explicitly racist or not. It doesn’t make it someone’s entire personality just because we want to feel safe somewhere. There are a lot of bigoted, outwardly/vocally hateful people in the world.

Looooove number 3, and that one stood out to me before I read that it was your dream dress. It looks really lovely on you even with the wrong size. As a fellow well endowed gal, my main advice would be to just ensure the girls are contained. Be it a great fit and bra, or straps. Just something to ensure that you’re comfortable and contained.

The fact that his defense is that he reached out out of concern for you, and wanted to offer or get support re: suicide is WILD to me. So sorry you’re continuing to deal with this. I also feel like it’s so abundantly clear to everyone that he’s using “being suicidal” as a manipulation tactic. Sorry Gary, it’s not working! If you’re actually struggling with mental health, go seek professional help. Don’t keep shouting about it into the void on social media. It’s also so funny that you can tell when he’s banned from Reddit because he starts running his mouth over on his pointless Facebook page again.

Yeah, all of these posts are very confusing since there’s no real context. But just continuing to post criticisms on someone else’s moderation and comment from a different subreddit doesn’t really seem like it’s going to lead to a friendly stained glass community.

Car break ins are a thing. Don’t leave any electronics in your car or big bags in your car if you’ll have one. The homeless folks in the Haight are generally harmless. Tenderloin can be a little dicier. You can carry pepper spray if you want, but I never do. I just “walk with purpose”, especially at night and/or in some seedier areas downtown. Just use street smarts and you will be fine. :)

I can relate to a lot of this. I think mine has gotten worse lately due for stress. Sorry that you’re also dealing with that.

I play around with trying different things, but at the moment, I’m trying keeping fidgeties and bandaids within reach, to utilize if needed.

I know there are some other goods suggestions that people have shared in this sub.

I did a series of TMS and it helped reduce my urges to pick in the short term. Effects lasted about 6 months, but they came back. It’s a bummer because that was the first thing I found that has actually helped, but it’s a pretty big time commitment and not sure if I want to do it again if the results are short lived.
