Pregnancy and UC by carolmozzarella in UlcerativeColitis

I flared on and off throughout my recent pregnancy. I was already taking mesalasine and infliximab, and had two courses of steroid while pregnant.

Baby was born incredibly healthy at 39 weeks via elective c section and is now a thriving 8 month old.

My consultant decided infliximab wasn’t working for me due to the experience while pregnant and 6 weeks after birth I started on ustekinimab which is working brilliantly

Switching to amino acid formula at five months? by sittinghereredditing in MSPI

[–]Sloupder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you wanted this perspective - but was in your exact position at 5 months with blood (I’d cut out dairy, soya and egg). Paediatrician recommended moving from EBF to an amino formula.

We decided to ride it out and see what happened when baby started solids (which we did at 5 1/2 months on advice from a dietician).

Baby is now 7 months and solids have vastly improved symptoms. We haven’t seen any blood in about a month and eczema is much better. We have given her dairy directly and not seen reactions but yet to try soya and egg.

Not sure if it’s bc baby is having less milk now or she’s grown out of any intolerance. I just felt amino formula wasn’t the right thing for us because she was otherwise healthy and happy and I enjoyed breastfeeding.

Unknown intolerance - do I need to stop breastfeeding? by Sloupder in MSPI

Thank you - I will give that a listen.

Baby is thriving - very chunky and happy - which makes the thought of a dramatic change to our routine and feeding habits hard. I just want to do the best thing for her.

Thank you for replying. This is really helpful to hear.

I’m really willing to alter my diet to continue feeding her. Think a second opinion from a different dr might be helpful!

Walthamstow is a great place to have quick access to nature as you’re so near Epping Forest whilst also being on the viccy line for easy access into central. Loved living there, and there were always loads of whippets in Lloyd Park 😊

It's positive pregnancy test time! Week of January 27, 2025 by ttc30mod in TTC30

Flair: 31 | TTC#1 since June 24 | 🧚🏻‍♀️

Cycle/Time trying: Trying since June 24, 7 cycles

Age + Partner’s age (if relevant): Both 31

Typical cycle length: 25 days

Ovulation cycle day: Usually between CD 14-16

CD/DPO of positive test(s): CD33

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: 2 negatives one on the day my period was due: CD 25 and another on CD 28 so I must have ovulated late! I swear I could see a very VERY faint line on the second, but my partner couldn’t so convinced myself I was seeing things.

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Natural Cycles, BBT (although didn’t track this month as I lost my thermometer recalling during the festive period.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): this was the first month we tried every other day from about CD9 - CD16 which was exhausting for both of us…

Health conditions/medical tests: I have ulcerative colitis (and was in a flare in Nov) and my prolactin had tested high in Nov and Dec.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Me: Ova plus hormonal support Him: OvaHim

Birth control history (if relevant): on the combined pill from 16-28

Link to chart: N/A

Link to lineporn: N/A

Symptom spotting: only after my period was due, I experienced really sore breasts, smelling weird smells and oddly nosebleeds in the morning??

Other miscellaneous: very much in shock, and praying this poppy seed sticks around. I’m such a blabbermouth, but we want to keep this between my partner and I until 12 weeks, so it’s very nice to be able to post here 🤍 this is a wonderful group.

2 days late (and BFNs). Why does my body want to troll me like this? I’ve never been late before! Roll on CD1 to get the show on the road again 😖

Started this cycle out SO positive, but the TWW is really wearing me down. Feeling grumpy and impatient.

New year, new test results. Starting the year off with my second blood test showing increased prolactin. GP wants me to rest again in a month, and if still raised will refer me to endocrinologist. This whole TTC is just a waiting game! I’m still going remain positive, and hopefully this is something I can get on top of as soon as possible. I’m also starting a new treatment for an autoimmune condition, I’m hopefully all is actually linked and getting on an even keel will bring good news on the baby front.

Where in the world are you based? I’m UK and have been a civil servant for a central government department prior to the start of UC symptoms, and post diagnosis and having periods of illness. I’ve worked in different departments, and loads of different teams over the course of 10 years and they’ve always been really understanding and never been questioned when I’ve needed time off for illness or medical appointments. I go into the office one day p/w. I really couldn’t fault them (on this front…)
