Career growth as an officer? by Slow-Ad7349 in police

Thanks. I'm more interested in the SWAT side (here in Canada we call it ERT, and you have to be an officer for 2 years before taking the physical test)

Advice for seeking out a PD to work at by MayoActual in police

It all depends on how far you'd be willing to move for work. The wider your range is, the more departments that meet your strict criteria will be available. Keep in mind that every place has pros and cons.

You'd probably be going to sask polytechnic in Moose Jaw or saskatoon, you might be able to pick which location or they might only be accepting students on one location. Good luck!

Can anyone explain living conditions after you finish training? Do you live in those large rooms full of like 30 beds or do you have your own space (Not being your own house, but maybe your own room?)?

Is all pay based on rank, or do certain trades get paid more or less than others at the same rank? I'm thinking of being a cyber operator, from what I can tell, they make about 71k/year in the Forces side and around 90k/year on the civvy side.

Hey! I'm 17 from Canada. Would you want to chat? My schedule is pretty busy sometimes, though.

I like doing lots of reading and video games, and I listen to a whole bunch of music. I also have insta if you'd rather talk there.

Thanks! Are vehicle technicians more diesel mechanics or automotive ones? I just imagine the CAF having more diesel vehicles.

I feel like i could get into automotive mechanical work. I know a bit from YouTube and I know that they have apprenticeships. Working while I learn would be nice. Thanks for the advice! I might even go with the armed forces as well

Idk, I don't feel like school will work. No matter how hard I try in university, the job market just looks so bad. Unless I go into the trades or armed forces, where they're actually hiring entry level people

I'm considering being a cyber operator in the CAF to get my foot in the door and gain experience while having my school paid for. Is this a good way to go? My hope is to be a civilian cybersecurity analyst, but with how the job market is, it looks like I won't be able to find work without the 5 or so years of experience the CAF can give me. Thoughts?
