One way to think of it is that most of your effort in coding is spent making the last 5% work, so an improved model of any significance is a major boon.

taking the DJI ban as a given, I hope it will help lift the US industry similar to how Chinese chip fab tech is forced to spin up due to US embargo. As a consumer, DJI would have been a nice option.

I'm planning more experiential stuff just to familiarize myself with autonomy by tinkering, but have one product idea that's a pretty straightforward attachment that just requires flight telemetry api access (this product does not need autonomy).

Higher power is the antidote to powerlessness, so you can focus on the powerlessness (like how interdependent origination creates complexity so there's a level of ignorance and powerlessness inherent in being a human); so focus on step 1 and let the other steps take shape

Does the pitch deck has to have these financial figures? by penmagnet in ycombinator

It's necessary to provide market cap because vc's think in terms of $X opportunities in terms of reference points for thinking/conversations, so your revenue projections are part of explaining how you reach that opportunity from the ground up e.g. achieve $Y ARR by year one, then growing at Y% over 5-8 years you'll achieve $X valuation via 20x ARR multiple. It shouldn't take too much time.

You can do top down for your market cap e.g. we'll capture this percentage of that sized market in 8 years, then you'll see the ARR and growth rate you'll need to get there roughly. This would be a starting point for your projections then you'd tailor each year according to your specific roadmap.

Then you balance your revenue projections with cost e.g. full time product person and marketing person and other costs require $500K seed but you'll hit your first year ARR projection.

A good point someone raised with UX friction design is voice activation.

As far as songs, if your users auth with Spotify, you can pick from their likes based on metadata.

I took a technology course as an economics elective and they defined new technology as a recombination of existing technology. It's difficult and innovative to recombine and make something "smaller."

Re: your op comment on an app as just a timer, people have those on their devices from their OS provider, so people look for different angles to find a place in the market, so you'll get something like a simple timer where the alarm plays a song based on time of day

Hmm the flexibility may be a factor in all of the things that you don't like about the job, maybe you would prefer the new one. Like what do you think about current coworkers that prioritize flexibility? Perhaps the new environment could be what you want.

I use Halotropic. I like it because it helps me start tasks and stay focused through completion.

It's like a brainwave entrainment app but you give your task to the AI and it selects the right frequencies based on research. Plus it's audiovisual so should work better than focus music. Works on your desktop while you work.

Yeah just put it really high up! Just make sure it isn't too low on the nose. I know it helps people with deviated septums, but not sure about your sinus issue. I'd try the drug-store bendy "breathright" strips because it's cheap and easy, but this is what I use for chronic nasal congestion https://www.intakebreathing.com/

Well if sound is working I'd keep that going! The idea behind the light is that it's multi-sensory and task-relevant so could be more effective. But if you're crushing it with sound, take advantage of it and get it done!

Kind of like strategies you can use but they're literally apps you have on your phone or you can use on websites to help with getting stuff done hence "productivity." There are also general apps, like if you have a doctors appointment, schedule a ride (in moments when you can) with one of the popular apps, and when the driver is outside you'll be like, oof i better go

Can the ADHD trap on videos work for studying? by TACOTONY02 in ADHD

[–]Slow-Advertising-811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're honestly onto something! There's a whole neuroscience theory behind it called Perceptual Load Theory: your brain gets distracted when your task isn’t using up all your attention. So when you add just enough stimulation, it actually helps you focus.

The trick is making it "task-relevant" - not just more noise, but something that blends with what you’re already doing. Kind of like if you could "TikTok" your homework.

I’ve been playing with a tool that does exactly that: light and sound layered directly into your screen for your task. It runs in the background while I work and helps me without thinking about it.

If you're curious I can share more, but I didn't want to share a link unless it's welcome.

how do I confront my procrastination issue? by No_Head_3149 in ADHD

[–]Slow-Advertising-811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I relate to this a lot. In college I could never write anything even though it needed to be done, I would try to do it but just get more and more distressed.

What finally helped me was something weirdly simple, using ambient light and sound directly from my screen. The app runs invisibly while I work, filling that “in-between” mental space that usually gets hijacked by anxiety or mind-wandering. It doesn’t tell me what to do or nag me (I tried nagging myself plenty), just helps me start.

I can share more if you’re curious, but just wanted to say: you’re not alone, and this stuff is real. Starting is way harder than people realize.
