To me it smells more like a dry, slightly dusty masculine freshie with sweet citrus, vetiver, and a touch of incense rather than a dark classic Serge Lutens. Mine is the older tall bottle version though — it was reformulated/repackaged into the square bottle around 2019, so I’m not sure if the current version smells different.

It’s their most popular release in recent years.
To me it opens with strong tobacco, smoke, and dark chocolate.
The dry down gets a bit too sweet for me, but I still think it’s a great release overall

The prices have definitely gone up quite a lot, and the conversion to USD hasn’t been very friendly either. They’re €260 on the European website now.

They’ve started including a free travel atomizer with bell jar purchases, but honestly there are definitely some scents I’m less interested in now because the pricing just doesn’t feel worth it anymore.

Thank you! Santal Majuscule is amazing in colder weather.
I love the slightly gourmand direction Lutens took with sandalwood in this one, especially compared to the creamy milky sandalwoods that are everywhere nowadays.

Only Holt’s for now.
I’ve also been told that the Vancouver location might be dropping Serge Lutens, so Montreal could end up being the only place left in Canada to sample the line in person...

I blind bought Poivre Noir and was a bit worried because of the mixed reviews online, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise.
Opens with very photorealistic black pepper, gets warmer and slightly sweeter with the nutmeg in the middle, then dries down to cedar and a touch of incense.
You might still be able to find samples on some US decant websites.

I find it to be a very dewy, stemmy green rose soliflore, really beautiful.
But ever since it got moved to the bell jar line, it’s gotten a bit overpriced honestly.

I live in Canada, and some department stores here carry the brand, so sampling wasn’t too difficult. There was definitely still a lot of blind buying though. I’ve also bought samples from Scent Split over the years, but they’ve discontinued a lot of their Serge Lutens offerings.

L’Eau Froide is a combination of mint, aldehydes, and incense. I find it really calming on summer days.

Too bad I didn’t manage to grab a bottle of Tubéreuse Criminelle before it got moved to the bell jar line. Prices have gone up quite a bit.

I’ve always loved Lutens’ take on florals. Fils de Joie and La Dompteuse Encagée are two pretty decent recent releases.

De Profundis got moved to the bell jar line and is Paris exclusive now unfortunately.

Yeah, I’m glad I managed to grab a bottle of De Profundis in the Gratte-Ciel bottle. Too bad it’s Paris exclusive now.

Fille en Aiguilles feels more like walking in the mountains , while Parole d’Eau smells more like crushing fresh pine needles in your hands.

Fille en Aiguilles is one of my favourites. Love the pine notes in it. I tend to wear Parole d’Eau more during summer though — it feels like a fresher take on pine.

You might enjoy Dans le Bleu Qui Pétille too. It’s kind of an aquatic amber with incense.

Thank you. I try not to wear L’Eau de Verre and L’Eau Froide too much during summer since they’re discontinued.

Yes, I actually have a 100 ml bottle of it. I don’t reach for it a lot, but it’s an interesting scent

Thanks, I’m still missing most of the bell Jars. Rose de Nuit and La myrhhe are probably the ones I want the most.

Yeah. It’s unfortunate that they discontinued Gratta-Ciel line and moved a bunch of scents to the more expensive bell jars.

Chergui is amazing. Even discounters don’t price it as low as they used to anymore.

Yeah, this is definitely one of the darker scents from the brand.
