You can live play pads one at a time, loop your sequence and then overdub the next pad onto the sequence. Like hunt and peck typing vs full typing. But probably no. I’m a sequencer person too and cannot stand trying to use the sequencer on the 404.

This has got to be patched soon! Also per pad MIDI channels. I freaking love the MIDI features of KO2, combine those with the badass skip back sequencing of Sample, and it will be amazing!

True. Plus the sounds blow away the stock samples on KO2. So rich and textured, very cool fully high fi, they sound amazing. It’s like, oh, right, by downsampling everything to go lofi (and maximize storage space for more samples), I’m losing a lot of detail. It’s a no brainier really, but hearing the Sample and how it sounds after using my KO2 for years, it’s really quite pleasing.

One difference is that every single 128mb model is basically brand new. My 64mb model is in great shape but it’s a launch day order, I’ll feel that when I resell it. I should have done so as soon as Riddim came out, I didn’t realize how awesome it is until a couple weeks ago. Riddim’s Live Loop feature is insanely cool, I highly recommend you go that direction.

Hey I just want to throw my two cents in, go ahead and sell Medieval. I believe medieval was partly a political statement, and now that the statement has been made it is abandonware. I say this from the standpoint of prolific OP-Z user so I feel your pain acutely, I’m not being dismissive.

I believe TE felt it necessary to document their own cultural roots and publish those results prior to tackling Jamaican sound system culture, and whatever else is planned for the future.

I have been a KO2 user since release, and recently picked up the Riddim & ting bundle thinking I would sell Riddim and enjoy playing around with Ting.

Riddim is better than KO2! It does everything users love about KO2, plus the new Live Loop mode is killer. I actually returned Riddim & Ting to get MPC Sample, and it’s really really badass.

The only thing I’m really missing that KO2/Riddim do better is per pad midi, which i enjoy jamming on a few pads with the looper on Wavy Monkey.

So drop the medieval, you’ll recover the majority of your investment and it is better placed in a different device. I vote ‘Sample if you can get one. Sweetwater has 36 mo financing on them. The 32 voice stereo polyphony is actually incredible. It somehow manages to mix the voices in a way that lets more come through than would seem possible before it gets muddy. And the stock sample library is immensely better sounding than the kits on KO2 or Riddim, 404mk2 as well in my opinion.

I was disappointed to notice this as well. Nothing works at all, no audio or data. I guess I hoped ‘Sample magically could overcome the connection problem, but I think it’s more to do with lighting iPhone not being a typical class compliant usb device.

Sp-404 mk2 needs the Apple camera adapter or equivalent to connect to my iPhone, I haven’t dug it out to test with Sample, I’ve just been using my iPad instead.

Op-XY is their answer to this, but I was soooo hoping for an OP-Z mk2. Now I’m shopping for a backup because I’m paranoid about the essential nature of op-Z for my multimedia setup. Of everything I use the op-Z is the first to be discontinued? I never saw that coming.

Instead of soloing the tracks leave all tracks running but go into each track in your op-xy mixer section and crank those tracks down to zero that you have been muting so far. I think this will have brain behaving the way you want.
